Tenant Services Specialist

Salary: $24
– $27 per hour
Position Summary:
The Tenant Services Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive services to formerly homeless persons living with mental illness in an independent living environment.

Working under the direction of the Tenant Services Supervisor I and Tenant Services Supervisor II, the Tenant Services Specialist will participate in providing independent living services, assisting tenants in locating community resources, collect tenant data and prepare outcome and quality assurance reports.

Experience working with disadvantaged populations including those who have been previously homeless living with a chronic mental disability is required.
Essential Duties:
Provide individual and group case management and supportive services to residents.
Maintain proper documentation and current case notes.
Interview and process applications for housing.
Provide crisis management services.
Meet with peers and supervisor for case conferences.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no formal supervisory responsibility of staff at this time.

However, he/she may be
required to provide oversight of volunteers.

Requirements: To perform effectively in this position, the Tenant Services Specialist must have:
Basic Qualifications:
BA in Social Services Field, or 4 years of work experience in related area may be substituted for degree.
At least 2 years’ case management/client advocacy services with homeless population and/or have population with a mental health diagnosis.
At least one year experience working with HMIS software.
Must be bilingual (English-Spanish).
Valid driver’s license and ability to meet California minimum and ACOF insurance requirements.
Access to a personal vehicle to be used to conduct ACOF business.
Preferred Qualifications:
Flexible and willing to adapt to new project assignments.
Ability to provide service coordination and supportive services to assist tenants to live independently.
Experience facilitating skill building workshops for tenants.
Ability to maintain required documentation and case notes through the HMIS system.
Experience participating in the interview and application process for housing.
Ability to provide crisis management services.
Proficiency in Microsoft software programs and basic typing skills.
Ability to work with diverse tenant populations to promote independent living skills.
Strong interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively with staff and tenants.
Knowledge of public benefits and social service systems.
Ability to handle highly stressful circumstances.
