Teen Talk Trainer (Temp
– Contract) Position

Teen Talk is a free Android and iPhone App that teens can download to seek social and emotional support anonymously from trained Teen Advisors.

Teen Advisors undergo a 50 hour live online training to learn reflective communication skills, mental health 101, coping skills and crisis intervention skills prior to working on the Teen Talk App.

We are looking for an enthusiastic professional that cares deeply about teen mental health and enjoys teaching teens to join the Teen Talk Team.

Teen Talk was created by Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles, a 104-year-old youth serving organization providing innovative mentoring, camp and teen programming, Over the past 3 years the app has grown from concept to reality, serving over 32,000 teens in over 100 countries.

Summary of Role
Trainer will facilitate teen training program to prepare teens to staff a mobile app supporting teens in their daily struggles.
Trainings will be held in person at our offices in West Los Angeles, on Sundays between 9:00 am-3:00 pm (PST) Starting February 2022.

Training runs through May 15, 202

Trainer must be prepared and punctual to all trainings (time is given for prep each week)
Trainer will ensure all appropriate training content (manual is provided) is covered in an interactive and engaging manner.
Trainer will manage roleplays and the distribution of weekly homework assignments
Trainer should be comfortable navigating challenging conversations with adolescents
Trainer is responsible for engaging the group.

Flexibility and creativity is a must!
Trainer is responsible for crisis intervention to teens in group (when appropriate)
Trainer will communicate with Teen Talk Clinical Program Director about any unusual occurrences or concerns/issues that arise during training.
Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, (LMFT and MSWs encouraged to apply)
Knowledge and comfortable teaching about Jewish Values
Previous group facilitation or education experience required
Preferred Crisis Line or Crisis Intervention Experience
Experience working with adolescents (camp or afterschool staff experience is a plus)
Ability to exercise sound judgment, punctuality, and professionalism
Access to personal computer to use zoom and google classrooms
Job Types: Part-time, Contract, Temporary

Pay: $40.00 per hour

Masks and social distancing, teen volunteers will be required to show proof of vaccine or negative covid test with medical exemption.
