Check out our background here.About the team and positionWe’re looking for a Team Lead UX Writer to join a growing Design organization.
This individual will support the Product Design team in the development of a range of experiences, including email campaigns, push notifications, text campaigns, and UX Writing for our products.
You’ll own multiple full-cycle projects collaborating with our group of UI Designers, UX Designers, and subject matter experts.
You’ll have the opportunity to work across different business units and learn the ins and outs of Carvana.The Team Lead UX Writer will be a champion for our users, shaping messaging and product experiences by creating useful, meaningful text that helps move users through the shopping experience, driving demand, and building a cohesive product experience.
As a stellar writer, you have a portfolio of work that highlights content that supports the overall user experience, simplifying the process while also communicating key brand information.As a Team Lead UX Writer, you’ll also have the opportunity to help shape the vision for our UX Writing practice, while mentoring and managing other members of the team and supporting their career development.In this role, your insights and work will have an immediate, tangible impact on our business, high visibility amongst our growing customer base, while working with a team of passionate people in a well-funded, growing company.What you’ll be doing* Define a vision and shape a strategic approach for the UX Writing team for new and existing services and products, in balance with business, brand, and user goals.* Work with senior management to define UX Writing goals, objectives, and key KPIs.* Provide mentoring, accountability, and career growth to direct reports through coaching, leadership development and training, and performance management.* Cultivate and grow the UX Writing team by recruiting and developing personnel to meet company growth and performance objectives.* Directly manage, develop and oversee a UX Writing team, providing clear guidance and understanding of expectations, performance measures, and goals.* Oversee creation of content standards and guidelines, principles, frameworks, tone of voice, and vocabulary.* Ensure development of cohesive product narratives across multiple platforms and touchpoints.* Collaborate with cross-product teams to cultivate buy-in; ensure content is cohesive and implemented to specifications.* Monitor emerging innovations and best practices in experience design, UX Writing, content strategy, and related disciplines.* Ensure strong and robust communication processes between all stakeholders, and proactively communicate information to provide clear understanding of UX Writing objectives and improvement opportunities.* Create a work and team environment that inspires positive communication, team cohesion, and adherence to Carvana’s Values.What you should have* A Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience, in communications, creative or technical writing, HCI, UX, or similar field.* 6+ years experience writing consumer-facing product content for multiple channels, including web, app, email, SMS, chatbot, SEO content, FAQs, etc.* 3+ years experience as a people manager of a medium-size UX Writing or similar writing team.* Experience creating and maintaining content and vocab guidance for multiple channels and touchpoints.* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills including the ability to present design concepts clearly and persuasively to partners and stakeholders.* Deep understanding of digital marketing and communication best practices, including UX Writing and UX Design.* Experience using web-based design applications and tools, including Figma, HTML, and Google products.* The ability to collect, analyze and interpret testing and user utilization data, including QA/QC and A/B testing.* Excellent skills in communication, editing, and proofreading.* Ability to produce high-quality content in a high volume, fast-paced environment.* Ability to work in an office environment, with extensive use of computers.* Ability to communicate and interact with others effectively in a professional, courteous manner.* Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.What does our growth have to do with you?Only everything.
