Systems Integration & Test Engineer

The Serve Automation team is searching for the best and brightest to join our team of rocket scientists turned food automation engineers. What You’ll Do:

  • Help guide company approach to testing from an architectural level
  • Manage system integration and test operations for an end-to-end robotic food system
  • Help develop and manage vehicle configuration and change system
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to identify, triage and debug issues across disciplines: mechanical, electrical, and software
  • Develop and track key performance metrics for system reliability and health
  • Coordinate and support system level testing, record results, and make engineering judgements based on data
  • Coordinate with design engineering teams to improve reliability and durability
  • Work with Head Chef to translate culinary recommendations into engineering tests
  • Take initiative on other roles the company needs to succeed. This is a fast-growing startup!

What You’ll Need:


Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of meaningful individual contributor experience in a cross-disciplinary engineering role
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Robotics, or related field
  • Experience building complex, reliable, electro-mechanical systems and working in cross-functional teams
  • Experience developing test procedures and performance metrics to improve system reliability
  • Knowledge of professional engineering practices in robotics, automation, or related field
  • Excellent systemic problem solving and triaging skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment that is constantly changing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency with scripting to parse data and develop tools (Python preferred)
  • Experience designing and building component level test stands to facilitate production
  • Experience managing technical team members and coordinating work
  • Familiar with instrument sensor selection and calibration given requirements
  • Intimately familiar with engineering issue and change systems
  • Six Sigma Certified

Where You’ll Work:

Our office is located in an industrial park in Hawthorne, CA. We’re about 1.5 miles from the Crenshaw Station on the Green Line in close proximity to a number of aerospace and manufacturing companies including SpaceX and Triumph. We are situated next to Common Space Brewery and LA Aleworks.
