System Design Engineer

Role Overview: This company’s System Design Engineers bring all the vehicle’s engines and fluid systems together with a streamlined network of tubes and manifolds. Systems Design Engineers work closely with all engineering disciplines to bring system schematics to life. They take delight in creating a system layout that balances the mechanical requirements of each part and the complexity of the resulting fluid lines. In this role, you would be working with either engine or ground system fluids and support structures. Responsibilities: Determine fluid line sizes, thickness, materials, and interfaces Convert system schematics to flushed out 3D models in CAD, considering manufacturing, integration, and operational constraints Design and analyze fluid systems and component support structures Perform combined loads analysis to determine interface loads Quantify system restrictions Develop production methodology and support initial builds Performs trade studies related to gas and propellant budgets Basic Qualifications: B.S. in any engineering discipline from an accredited university ‍3-7 years of industry experience in a development, integration & test, or design role Experience with design and analysis of aerospace fluid systems Ability to create and interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) Experience with fluid system design elements, including valves, tubing, flexible elements, flanges, fittings Familiarity with thermofluid analysis tools such as GFSSP, ROCETS, Thermal Desktop, ANSYS Fluent Strong understanding of thermodynamics, compressible/incompressible flow, and real fluid properties using tools such as REFPROP, CoolProp, GASP Preferred Skills and Requirements: Ability to quickly apply first-order principles to predict and interpret system behavior Firm understanding of tubing manufacturing methods, including bending, flaring, and welding Technical writing and communication including manufacturing plans and design reviews In-field test and diagnostics experience Understanding of electromechanical control systems and control techniques Benefits: Unlimited PTO (and people actually take vacation time) Great healthcare coverage (Including Dental, Vision, Disability & Life Insurance) Market Value Compensation Working on incredible technology with brilliant people Logistical Requirements: To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
