System Administrator

We are looking for a well-rounded candidate with solid skills in managing servers, systems and networks. Candidates will have at least 3 years of hands-on experience managing networks and Linux/Windows server administration. Proficiency in Azure IaaS is highly desirable. Candidates are expected to have great interpersonal and teamwork skills, including excellent written, verbal and technical communication.

 

Job Duties:

  • 40% networking, 40% servers, 20% user support, and IT compliance
  • Servers – 40%
  • – Work with mostly Linux servers
  • – Work in Azure, Google Cloud Platform and on-prem Proxmox/KVM hypervisors
  • – Jenkins/CI, Docker/Kubernetes, file storage, net services
  • – Maintain servers, patching, hardening, backups, logging and make improvements
  • – IT devops (e.g. scripting, powershell, python, bash, Go)
  • – Manage file server SMB shares and permissions

 

  • Network Infrastructure – 40%
  • – Work with Azure, OPNSense, Aruba, VPN
  • – Some physical cabling and rack mounting needed early on
  • – Make continual improvements in service quality, configurations, firewalls and monitoring

  • End-user support and helping with IT compliance – 20%
  • – Assist employees in hybrid Mac/PC environment using a ticketing system
  • – Use Jamf, Intune MDM, package software deployments
  • – Manage Azure AD, G Suite
  • – Document solutions and infrastructure  
  • – Manage users and settings for SaaS and other platforms

 

Job Requirements:

  • Must have 5+ years in general IT experience
  • 2+ years working with Linux
  • 1+ years experience in Azure IaaS environment
  • 2+ years experience working with Azure AD / Active Directory, O365
  • 2+ years of L3 networking experience
  • Comfortable with L3 networking, routing, firewall policies, VLANs, subnetting, DHCP, DNS, VPN
  • Knowledge of backups, patch management
  • Plusses: Experience with Proxmox, Zerotier, IPv6, OPNSense, Aruba Central, Jenkins, continuous integration
  • Relevant certifications desirable, including Cisco / Networking, Server+, Linux+, Microsoft AZ etc.
