Job Title: SVP, Business and Legal Affairs
Job Type: Full-time, Direct Placement

Responsibilities Include:
- Negotiate all aspects of scripted programming deals with talent agents and lawyers (including profit participation).
- Structure, negotiate and draft first-look/overall deals, rights/acquisitions deals, development and production services deals.
- Handle all aspects of day-to-day television production from development through production.
- Responsible for legal matters during production, including but not limited to evaluating rights/chain of title issues, clearance matters, guild issues, advertising, promotion and publicity issues.
- Interface with the following departments on a day-to-day basis: creative, production, labor, legal, publicity, finance, ad sales, music, syndication, and marketing.
- Review budgets and other financial data associated with the development and production of aforesaid programming.
- Maintain relationships with agencies, managers, and attorneys in the entertainment community.
Requirements:
- 12+ years prior experience at an entertainment law firm and/or major media entertainment company with substantial experience in scripted television development and production.
- JD degree from top tier law school is preferred and active member of the California State Bar
- Minimum 5 years of Business Affairs experience.
- Extensive and in-depth knowledge of negotiating and documenting entertainment scripted transactions with an ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be detailed oriented and possess superior negotiation, drafting, organizational and time management skills.
- Solid working knowledge of guild and union issues and various entertainment industry customs and practices.
- Previously established relationships with key agencies, managers, and attorneys in the entertainment community.
- Must have a cooperative, positive, team-oriented approach.
- Ability to develop effective and productive working relationships with senior company executives.
- Ability to communicate in a clear, concise and succinct manner both verbally and in writing.

Job Requirements:
- Oversee legal functions, ensuring regulatory oversight and legal compliance
- Advise management on legal matters in order to guard the organization against legal liability

- Conduct legal research, drafts more significant corporate legal documents, and assist more experienced attorneys in representing the corporation in legal disputes and transactions
- Advise senior business management and other Legal Department members on legal and business issues
- Advise management and business staff on legal and business issues
- Coordinate work with outside attorneys on civil litigation matters and consult with on sensitive legal issues
- Assist General Counsel and legal team to drive overall legal strategy and manage day-to-day legal operations, including establishment of processes and procedures
- Manage the annual legal department operating plan and budget, acting as liaison between the finance and legal department
