The Surgery Aide will provide assistance to the nurses and physicians in the Operating Room, PACU, Same Day Surgery and G.I. Services. Contributes to the overall safety and efficiency of the department, maintains cleanliness of areas, supplies and equipment.
The Surgery Aide performs daily turnover and terminal cleaning of surgical suites including walls, ceilings, floors, and all equipment. Orderlies transport patient beds and stretchers as necessary from and from patient areas to surgical suites and. Responsibilities include assisting with positioning and prepping of the surgical patient, stocking of supplies for the department, and handling and delivery of surgical specimens. The employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures, under the guidance and direction of the Director, OR Manager, and Clinical Coordinator. The Surgical Orderly will follow all guidelines set forth by the AORN Standards and Practices. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
The candidate should demonstrate the ability to assist in the transport of surgical patients both preoperatively and postoperatively. Demonstrate the ability to perform appropriate turnover, and terminal cleaning of surgical suites, including routine cleaning of walls and ceilings. Demonstrate knowledge and skill in appropriately assisting with positioning and prepping of surgical patients. Maintains adequate stocking of necessary surgical PPE, scrub solutions and room supplies. Demonstrate knowledge and ability to perform surgery related tasks as delegated by the Circulator RN, Surgical Technician the Clinical educator and the Director. Works well within the team, demonstrates flexibility, and is willing to assist others and perform and department tasks needed.

- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
- Current BLS card
- EVS experience a plus
