SUPPLY CHAIN ANALYST – AHMC Seton Medcal Center

Overview: JOB SUMMARY: Assist the Manager of Purchasing in the selection and purchase of Medical and Surgical supplies and equipment.

Promote product standardization, competitive bidding and adherence to group purchasing agreements.

Work cooperatively with department managers in product selection and budgeting.

Take an active and supportive role in hospital value analysis and cost containment.

Responsibilities: A.

Knowledge of the automated inventory system in all factors of its utilization and application.

Knowledgeable of the stock and non-stock ordering and the receiving and storeroom functions to provide support in these areas, as needed 7.

Knowledgeable in the operation of the department computer system, order processing and back order follow-up in the non-stock areas B.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.

Assists in the purchasing of Medical and Surgical supplies and equipment for all departments of the hospital.

2.

Works cooperatively with department managers in the selection, pricing and purchase of appropriate supplies and equipment 3.

Work creatively to explore new, cost effective sources for supplies and equipment 4.

Using group purchasing contracts when possible, will obtain the supplies and equipment at the lowest overall cost to the hospital 5.

Be an active part of the Materials Management Committee 6.

Work with the manager of Purchasing and department managers to encourage product standardization 7.

Provides input for the performance evaluations of departmental employees 8.

Orders all storeroom supplies on a periodic basis to ensure sufficient stock and plan proper stock organization.

9.

Responsible for developing daily orders of routine General Store supplies.

10.

Review and evaluate appropriate vendor selections for “stock” and “non-stock” purchasing.

11.

Interact with sales representative in product evaluation and selection.

12.

Ensure use of Contract Agreements, also updates manuals as needed.

13.

Maintain purchasing document files within General Stores to ensure a smooth and timely processing of daily ordering.

14.

Interact with departmental managers and other hospital personnel regarding backorders, vendor selections, product specifications, etc.

15.

Assist with daily receipts and issue as needed.

16.

Performs all other duties as assigned or required.

Adheres to procedures for the disposal of waste – household waste and biohazard waste as well as the proper disposal of sharps.

Uses proper body mechanics at all times.

Seeks assistance when necessary to move heavy objects or to transport/transfer a heavy patient.

5.

Is knowledgeable in the hospital safety program and takes necessary steps to maintain a safe environment.

Adheres to safe work practices in order to prevent injuries and illnesses.

Is familiar with emergency codes and emergency preparedness procedures and understands his/her role in response to each of the emergency codes (Code Blue, Code Pink, Code Orange, Code Yellow, Code Gray, Code Silver, Code Purple, etc.) 7.

Qualifications: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING 1.

Bachelor’s Degree in related field required.

2.

MBA preferred.3.

Experience using materials management software preferred.4.

Prefer at least 2 or more years of experience in an acute care setting
