Steward

Position Overview: 

As a Porter/Steward at Casaléna, you will play a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness, organization, and smooth operation of our establishment. You will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of various areas within the restaurant, assisting with food and beverage service, and supporting the overall dining experience for our guests. This position requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and a strong work ethic.

Hours: 830am-430pm

Key Responsibilities:

1. Stocking and Inventory:
  • Assist in receiving and storing food and beverage supplies.
  • Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies, utensils, and other items, and notify management when restocking is required.
  • Rotate stock to ensure proper storage and usage of perishable items.
  • Assist in the organization and storage of stock in designated areas.
2. Dishwashing and Kitchen Support:
  • Operate dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, and cooking equipment.
  • Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks such as peeling vegetables or portioning ingredients.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment and utensils are cleaned, sanitized, and properly stored.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the dishwashing area.

3. Cleanliness and Maintenance:
  • Ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas, including dining rooms, restrooms, kitchen, and service areas.
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors regularly to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Clean and polish silverware, glassware, and other dining utensils.
  • Empty and clean trash receptacles and dispose of waste appropriately.
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies as needed.

4. Support to Service Staff:
  • Assist servers and bartenders in setting up tables and arranging dining areas.
  • Deliver food and beverages to tables as needed.
  • Clear tables and reset them for the next guests.
  • Provide timely assistance to service staff during busy periods to ensure efficient service.

5. Adherence to Health and Safety Standards:
  • Follow all health and safety regulations and guidelines, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
  • Report any maintenance or safety issues to the management promptly.
  • Adhere to proper food handling and storage practices to prevent contamination.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience in a similar role preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning and sanitation techniques.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
