Responsibilities of the STEM Department Chair:
Demonstrate knowledge of trends and best practices pertaining to STEM education and pedagogy;
Envision and work to implement a clear scope and sequence in STEM curriculum, one that is research-based, developmentally appropriate, innovative, and aligned with the school’s mission;
Chair regular department meetings to discuss programmatic efforts and offer support to teachers within the department;
In collaboration with the Dean of Teaching and Learning and the Associate Head for Faculty, support the recruitment and hiring process of teachers in STEM subject areas;
Manage the department budget and oversee the ordering of lab and classroom supplies

Requirements of the STEM Department Chair:
Passion to work with teenagers in a complex and demanding academic environment;
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion and serving students and teachers from all backgrounds and traditions;
Strong interpersonal, facilitation and communication skills;
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required; Master’s degree preferred.
Candidates should have significant teaching and leadership experience.
