JOB TITLEStaffing and Central Supply CoordinatorDepartmentREPORTS TODirector of Nursing NursingAll new hires must receive COVID 19 vaccine or have a religious/medical exemptionDuration: PermanentJob Purpose: The primary purpose of the job is to assist the director of nursing in determining the staffing needs of nursing department in accordance with the resident’s assessment and plan of care by ensuring personnel are available 24 hours/day, 7days/week.The incumbent can distribute prescribed drugs and complete other delegated nursing tasks under the direction of a licensed nurse allowed by state law.

Also, the incumbent will be responsible to order, receive, stock and provide supplies and equipment in an efficient manner and to maintain a current and accurate inventory of supplies.Key Roles and ResponsibilitiesAdministrative Functions Review the staffing budgeted patterns of the nursing department and maintain a daily staffing pattern.Participate in facility surveys made by authorized government agencies as requested by the Director of Nursing.

Produce and review the finalized staffing schedule with the DON and post the schedule in a location available to all.Assist the DON in preparing staffing reports and notify the DON when adequate staff is not available to meet resident care needs.Ensure that daily staffing and census is posted per state regulations.

Identify residents before administering treatments, serving meals, etc.

as necessary and record all restorative entries in an informative and descriptive manner.Use only authorized abbreviations established by this facility when recording information.Report and provide statement for all events, incidents and all changes in the resident’s condition to the Team Leader as soon as possible.

Deliver routine daily medications and coordinate with different nurses to assist with patient care.Follow written or verbal instructions on how to manage medications.Record medication dosages and times and gather samples for analysis.Provides resident care in a manner conductive to safety and comfort.

Resident care includes but is not limited to:Assists resident with or performs Activities of Daily Living (ADL).Obtains and records Vital Signs and weights per policy.Assists residents with ambulation and transfers.Positions residents in correct body alignment in and out of bed.Applies adaptive equipment as ordered.Cares for personal belongings.Assist physician and/or licensed nurse with treatments and procedures as needed.Accompanies residents when transported outside the center for appointments as requested.Ensures patients are ready for scheduled rehab therapy and transports patients to rehab area.Feeds or assists patients with meals and provides additional nourishment and hydration per care plan.Records patient’s oral intake and output.Uses point Click Care (PCC-POC) according to the Business Processes, if applicable.Uses standard precautions when caring for all patients.Participates in the orientation of new nursing assistants.Reports changes in patient’s condition, patient/family concerns or complaints to charge nurse and/or supervisor.Collects and bags soiled linen and delivers to dirty linen area.Obtains clean linens and supplies from supply areas, cleans utility rooms, Kitchen areas and all other nursing areas as assigned.Transfers patient’s belongings and equipment as directed and assists with postmortem care.Assists with patient discharge as requested.Promotes culture of safety to ensure a healthy practice and living environment.Collaborates and coordinates with other departments to provide timely effective care consistent with individual’s needs, choices, and preferences.Contributes to an environment that is respectful, team oriented, and responsive to the concerns of staff, patients, and families.Participates in quality improvement activities as requested.Provide for adequate, smooth, and accountable storage, inventory and dispensing of all nursing and medical supplies.Keep an accurate inventory of necessary supplies and maintain an organized, neat storage area.Order supplies and equipment.Accept and evaluate bids from suppliers and recommend purchases to the Administrator and/or the Director of Nursing.Ensure all purchase orders are properly prepared, signed and submitted as required.

Verify terms of shipping and payment with vendors.Review deliveries and verify invoices for completeness and accuracy and forward to business office for payment.Maintain accurate and organized records that show accountability for all supplies and that are in compliance with federal, state, local and facility regulations.Prepare correspondence and claims concerning damaged merchandise, errors in shipment, etc., and return items to vendor as required.Assist in developing methods for determining quality and quantity of supplies and equipment purchased.Ensure storage instructions are complied with on merchandise received.Date and rotate perishable goods.Dispense and distribute supplies to all areas as requested or necessary.Ensure various departments are properly charged with supplies and equipment they have received for cost allocation purposes.Keep current names, addresses and phone numbers on all medical, nursing, consultants and other supply related personnel for ready reference.Prepare forms and reports as needed or requested.File forms and reports as needed.Maintain proper documentation of charges to patients for supplies as used.Ensure that vendors provide appropriate material safety data sheets (MSDS) in accordance with current OSHA regulations and the facility’s policies and procedures.

Report any problems to the Administrator.

Personnel Functions Ensure that a sufficient number of CNAs are available at all times to ensure that quality nursing care is provided.Assist the DON to monitor attendance by maintaining the log of absenteeism and tardiness.Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with the facility’s policies and procedures.Assist the DON to ensure that all nursing service personnel follow personnel including appropriate dress and use of name badges.Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with our established restorative policies and procedures, and as instructed by your supervisor.Follow work assignments, and/or work schedules in completing and performing your assigned tasks.Cooperate with inter-departmental personnel, as well as other facility personnel to ensure that nursing services can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents.Report all complaints and grievances made by the resident.Notify the facility when you will be late or absent from work.Develop and maintain a good working rapport with all department personnel to assure that central supply procedures meet the needs of the facility.Interpret central supply policies and procedures to facility staff as necessary.Staff Development Functions Ensure that all new nursing personnel are oriented to the facility, consistent with policy and procedures, prior to being assigned to the unit.Provide suggestions for orientation in-service and training, based on feedback from nursing associates.Attend continuing education programs designed to keep you abreast of changes in your profession, as well as maintain your license/certification on a current status.Resident Rights Responsibilities Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information.Treat all residents fairly and with kindness, dignity and respect.Knock before entering a resident’s room.Report all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property.Report all complaints made by residents to the DON.Personal Nursing Care Functions Participate in and receive the nursing report upon reporting for duty.Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids.Assist residents with restorative needs to include: Daily dental and mouth care (i.e.

brushing teeth/dentures, oral hygiene, special mouth care, etc.) (Assisting resident to becoming more independent).

Range of Motion exercises (passive/active).

Positioning/Posture.

Ambulation with or without self-help devices.

Mobility devices.

Bowel and Bladder training.

Position bedfast residents in correct and comfortable position, utilizing positioning devices as indicated.

Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.

Answer resident calls promptly.Special Nursing Care Functions Observe and report the presence of red areas and skin breakdowns to prevent decubitus ulcers.Report injuries of an unknown source, including skin tears.Provide restorative nursing as ordered.

Food Service Functions Serve food trays.

Assist with feeding as indicated (i.e., cutting foods, feeding, assist in dining room supervision, etc.).

Assist residents with identifying food arrangements (i.e.

informing resident with sight problem of foods that are on his/her tray, where it is located, if it is hot/cold, etc.).

Keep residents’ water pitchers clean and filled with fresh water and within easy reach of the resident.Safety and Sanitation Participate in appropriate in-service training programs prior to performing tasks that involve potential exposure to blood/body fluids.Wash hands before and after performing any service for the resident.Keep the nurses’ call system within easy reach of the resident.Follow established safety precautions in the performance of all duties.Keep residents’ personal possessions off the floor and properly stored.Keep floors dry.

Report spills immediately.Keep excess supplies and equipment off the floor.

Store in designated areas.Clean, disinfect, and return all resident care equipment to its designated storage area after each use.Report all hazardous conditions and equipment to the DON immediately.

Report all safety violations.
