The Payments group at Guild fulfills this vision daily by handling large cash flows between partners while ensuring audibility and reliability.Our teams currently develop in the following stacks: Node, Python, Java, Ruby/Rails, React, and Typescript. We are moving to a Serverless First strategy with AWS as our primary cloud provider, and are looking for a Staff engineer to help us on this journey. As part of this effort, we will mature our financial and revenue platform in order to serve many more students in the future.As a Staff Engineer, you will:Use AWS managed services to build scalable serverless applications in support of our fast growing customer baseDraw on prior financial engineering experience to guide our Payments engineering outcomesWork in complex multi-functional accounting domainsCreate code that is understandable, testable, and shared across teams and partnersLead cross-org engineering efforts, share knowledge and feedback with multiple teams and partnersDeliver on time and be accountable to multiple teams and partnersUse design concepts to split larger applications into smaller domains to improve autonomyIdeal candidate will have:Breadth of experience across many software stacks and industriesExperience integrating in-house software solutions with business ERPs such as NetsuiteBackground in using Financial Services and/or Payments solutions such as Stripe to integrate with in-house software systemsAffinity for building relationships – respect, communication, inclusion, and recognition are an important part of building software at GuildDelivery experience with iterative software development and/or lean product developmentPassion for our mission – Guild is pioneering a new path for adult learners in a complicated and regulated spaceExpertise in any of these primary technologies that Guild uses for new products: Python, Node.js, React, Typescript, Javascript, GraphQL, AWS LambdaExposure to building and owning multiple services and APIs-data modeling, unit and integration testing, and continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD)A Learner’s Mindset – always be learning and sharing what you learn with othersDemonstrated curiosity and interest in keeping up and experimenting with new technologies.We feel passionately about equal pay for equal work, and transparency in compensation is one vehicle to achieve that.
