Safety & Reliability Engineer to join our cohesive and collaborative Airborne Power & Control Engineering Team in Kirkland, WA.
If you are an Engineer with an understanding of Safety and Reliability in a highly regulated industry, please read on Working knowledge of ARP4761 or MIL-STD-882 guidelines are a plus.
POSITION SUMMARY The Safety and Reliability Engineer performs risk and reliability analysis in support of contracted programs, Bid and Proposals and Internal Research and Development activities.
This role will participate in activities to obtain new and follow-on business.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Apply Safety and Reliability (S&R) principles and techniques to influence the architecture and support development of safety-critical aerospace electronic systems following DO-254 and DO-178 processes Work closely with electrical engineers, systems engineers, mechanical engineers, software engineers, and customers to develop safe and reliable electrical power systems for aircraft Conduct Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA) Develop Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) Perform System Safety Assessments (SSA), including Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Common Cause Analysis (CCA) Analyze the effects of Single Event Upsets (SEUs) and develop mitigations Position Requirements EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree in engineering Seven (7) or more years of related experience Possess ability to read and understand schematic diagrams and partition circuitry into functional blocks Familiar with Windchill/Relex software and 217Plus reliability prediction model Familiar with overall ARP-4761A System Safety process for Commercial applications and MIL-STD-882e System Safety process for Military applications, or ISO 26262 for Road Vehicle Functional Safety EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Must be a US Person under International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) to be eligible.

This compensation range is specific to Washington State and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
At Astronics AES, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

– $167,893.
