We believe in creative thinking and collaboration to help build a better mobility experience for everyone, improving people’s ability to move – whether for work or play.What we do: The Sr. Powertrain Safety Engineer is responsible for ensuring functional safety requirements from aerospace standards/guidelines and vehicle system teams are well defined and well-integrated with our Powertrain team.What you can do: Lead assessment of functional safety issues in the current design Develop and/or lead the reviews of Powertrain functional safety related items during FHA, FMEA, FTA, etc. processes with both suppliers and internal teams Collaborate with the system safety team to define and improve functional safety concepts Develop cascading functional safety concepts from system level to develop technical safety requirements for Powertrain systems Work closely with test and validation teams to develop and improve functional safety related test requirements and methodologies Contribute to functional safety architecture development for Powertrain system Other duties as assignedWhat you can contribute: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical engineering A minimum of eight (8) years of related experience in the development, test, and qualification of Powertrain-related systems; at least 3 years experience in development of functional safety artifacts (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for this role) Professional knowledge of internal combustion, hybrid electric, and/or all-electric powerplants (engine, fuel, oil, hydraulics, generator, FADEC, electric motor, motor control unit, power distribution and control, lithium-based energy storage systems) Experience with functional safety analysis tools such as Windchill FTA, Rhapsody, etc Experience with requirement management tools such as DOORS, JAMA, etc Experience with modeling, simulation and validation using Matlab/Simulink Experience developing functional test plans and coordination with test team for test plan execution, data acquisition, data processing, and reporting Experience with aviation standards such as RTCA DO-178C, DO-254A, and DO-160; and SAE ARP4761 and ARP4754 Familiarity with FAA part 27/29/33 Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proactive delivery of communication and follow up Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints Advanced knowledge of DVP&R and DFMEAYou may also be able to contribute: Knowledge of rotor and drive systems is a plus Experience with regulatory agencies is preferred Experience working in aviation/aerospace is preferred Experience with 500-1200 VDC systems is preferred Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods and tools is preferredAny offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background check.
