Job Description Job Title: Sr. Operations Engineer Job ID: CS5390561012 Position Summary: The Senior Operations Engineer performs the role of liaison between IT project teams and the various operational groups that perform the release and/or support the infrastructure of the released applications. The incumbent will manage projects involving testing and scheduling of changes or upgrades to be rolled out. This position is responsible for ensuring completion of the daily business processes and confirming success of the system and data protection process. The ideal candidate must understand our investment operations processes and batch process well, be able to see projects through all stages including defining requirements, presenting technical proposals, and deploying and maintaining the best solutions. A strong commitment to technical excellence and teamwork are required. This position will require working a rotational on-call schedule to cover for off-hours and weekends. Essential Duties: Monitor job processing and function as the primary support for file transfers, back-end applications, and automated processes. Provide oversight on all job batch processes across the firm. Troubleshoot market data connectivity issues; review daily reports and process verification for vendor file arrival logs, business administrators with application issues, application log review, and incident reporting. Responsible for writing certain IT operations procedures and executive summaries for projects. Provide support to the Business Continuity Plan team and Release Management team. Ensure accurate documentation of current procedures as well as relevant information about existing systems. Perform backups and tape rotation; support tape drive hardware; monitor and restore requests, handle back-up error and help edit backup policies. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Information System, or related field; or equivalent work experience. At least 4 years of experience working in IT operations or infrastructure support. Comprehensive understanding of scheduling solutions such as Tidal and SQL Enterprise Manager. Experience working in real-time environment. Able to work an on-call schedule when needed. Strong commitment to technical excellence. Solid verbal and written communication skills. Strong problem-solving skills; ability to diagnose root-cause issues and identify targeted solutions. Desired Qualifications: Experience with Brocade and Nortel/Avaya products is a plus. Experience working in the financial services industry is preferred.
