Sr. Master Data Business Analyst

Reporting to the Master Data Organization (MDO) Instruments and Software Site Leader, The Sr.

Master Data Business Analyst (MDBA) influences the development and drives the execution of operating plans/goals, contributes to the development of strategies, provides input as requested into key business decisions and resource planning, may serve on or lead project teams, and demonstrates a specific and advanced set of skills, knowledge, and a thought leader in areas of expertise and the use of SAP and other applications.

The Sr.

MDBA supports and may be accountable for the achievement of operational goals, drive master data creation for new product introduction and product sustaining, makes recommendations and leads implementation of process improvements, and accountable for all aspects of SAP master data support, data entry, and ongoing data accuracy reporting.

The Sr.

MDBA also operates with proficiency in the following responsibilities: Prioritization of workload for MDBA team, assignment of tasks with expected dates of completion, reviewing completion of tasks, assist in creation and reporting of site metrics and identification of process and metric gaps.

The Sr.

MDBA troubleshoots and makes corrective recommendations within the team, as well as for indirect reports and other associates throughout the business.

The Sr.

MDBA will have responsibility for coordination, oversight, and evaluation of the training of team members according to department and company procedures.

The Sr.

MDBA will be relied on to exercise sound judgment and make decisions within broadly defined procedures and practices.

The Sr.

MDBA receives little to no instructions on routine work and general instructions on new assignments.

Job Description DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintains the integrity of the SAP ECC/SCM master data as well as other systems and works with business process teams and/or partners on issue resolution.

Responsible for maintaining and supervision of the Instrument and Software San Jose MDO team focused on superior technical and customer service.

Will identify and evaluate major functional problems as well as establishing and delegating operational objectives and assignments.

Working with MDO leaders, periodically evaluate site master data resources to ensure business objectives are adequately supported.

Actively participates in the Master Data and Enterprise Data Governance teams, working closely with the Master Data Stewards to ensure consistency in master data related initiatives across the BDB business.

Conducts and coordinates, when appropriate, training of other associates in required techniques, operation of SAP transactions, software applications, and other relevant group or department procedures.

Provides training to associates for new business solutions, and training on proper completion of documentation.

Ensures MDBA team have the appropriate security access within ECC6 and other systems.

Assists in development, maintenance and communication of metrics, workflow tools, and reports to ensure accuracy of master data and support continuous improvement.

Communicates with and supports BDX affiliates as required to resolve product master data issues.

Demonstrate to be knowledgeable in all applicable MDBA staff techniques, operation of relevant software applications and system tools associated with the test and production environment of SAP.

Troubleshoot and make corrective recommendations for others within the team and for customer feedback purposes.

Assigns, monitors, and manages staff workload to ensure that all resources have meaningful, challenging, and rewarding assignments, are fully utilized, and team productivity is optimized.

Responsible for routine, accurate and timely completion of all assignments.

Be proficient in prioritization of group workload and assignments, identify gaps and recommend corrective actions.

Lead or participate in group, intra-department, or cross-department teams and projects as required by the business.

Work closely with and provide feedback to BDB Data team and MD Stewards to understand and implement new areas of focus, SAP updates, and communicate new business requirements back to other MDBA staff.

Co-lead MDO staff meetings with Master Data Business Analysts to ensure constant communication, solve business problems, and/or present findings.

Acts as mentor to other associates to meet high performance standards and stay current with key skills.

Builds strong teams that practice BD values and help the business and each associate continuously improve.

Participates in project facilitation.

Manages, coordinates, and facilitates meetings.

Drive and track completion of tasks and decisions.

Assist other team members with issue prioritization.

Collaborates with cross site MDO and Business/Corporate teams to standardize processes, procedures where applicable, identify process improvements, and define governance best practices.

Perform other related duties and assignments as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Experience in SAP design/implementation with a good understanding of all SAP master data and material number assignment systems.

Strong knowledge of SAP data fields and their interdependencies with related data fields along with a good understanding of the importance of all data elements.

Strong knowledge of reporting functionality, SAP BI and Power BI, and ability to extract wide variety of data reports.

Ability to develop, apply, and maintain current processes and guidelines pertaining to SAP master data governance.

Knowledgeable of structured documentation and change control systems (ECO process), tools for process improvement, Quality System Regulations, New Product Introduction, GMP & FDA regulatory requirements (as applicable) and ISO 9000 guidelines.

Experience in use of data automation tools (such as Innowera or Winshuttle) to support data loads, mass changes, and reduce manual data entry in applicable processes.

Effective interpersonal, analytical, critical thinking, time management, and problem-solving skills.

Strong organizational skills with proficiency in various MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, Access, and Visio.

Ability to analyze and follow up on problems and/or questions related to master data issues.

Effective leadership skills including counseling/coaching/influencing, conflict management and interpersonal/verbal/written/oral communications and ability to present in group setting.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific, technical, or business discipline Minimum of 3-5 years of experience using the SAP system Minimum of 3 years project leadership experience Minimum of 5-7 years business experience, preferably in a medical, pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment, Six Sigma Green Belt, Project Management Professional, and Agile certification strongly preferred “Becton, Dickinson and Company is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
