Sr. LVN – Transplant Services

Responsibilities

In this position, you will provide age specific nursing care in the Multi-specialty clinic.

Major functions are to collect health data, history information, medication reconciliation, take vital signs, start IVs and obtain venous blood samples, process medication prescriptions, administer medications and injections, prepare and assist procedures, and process instruments for sterilization.

As well as assist as assigned with patient education on medication initiation and follow up, endoscopic procedures preparation and audio-visual instructions, document patient information accurately and in accordance with departmental and institutional guidelines.

Maintain a good patient flow throughout the clinic, and provide continuity of care to assigned clinics while following the principles set forth in the UCLA Health System and strives to provide the highest quality of C-I-Care/Patient Experience practices.

Qualifications

Required:
Possess license issued by the State of CA Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners and IV Certification
Possession of BLS/CPR certification/BCLS from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
Possession of EKG or ability to obtain EKG certification within 6 months of employment
Ability to perform effectively under conditions of a fluctuating workload and/or frequent interruptions
Ability to respond and assist appropriately in emergent situations
Able to speak, understand, read and write English to convey information at all levels of understanding
Able to perform independently and interdependently
Able to maintain positive working relationships with all team members, patients, and families
Able to take vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respirations, oxygen saturation) and perform EKGs
Knowledge of all instruments and supplies to perform physical examinations and/or procedures
Ability to administer medications and obtain drug refills as needed.
Ability to recognize abnormal laboratory values and report to the physician
Keyboard literacy skills to access and input data in computerized logging systems
Demonstrated ability to be punctual and maintain good attendance
