Responsibilities: The Sr.
Flexible Pipe Engineer is responsible for collaborating and contributing to all activities related to the design and delivery of flexibles, and maintain, develop and protect Company know-how.
The applicant will also be tasked with performing engineering feasibility studies for various flexible pipe applications and review technical documentations, check design and analysis work of peer flexible engineers within a dynamic project taskforce.
The applicant will do the aforementioned in accordance with the company’s standards, procedures and processes, schedules and man hours, with a continuous concern for quality, targets, and customer satisfaction.
· Assist the Project Management Team, provide inputs to the project schedule.
· Integrate experience gained from previous projects into new projects
· Ensure designs and analyses are performed in compliance with the established design rules and procedures within the company.
· Aid and supervise junior Flexible Pipe Engineers.
· Oversee several flexible pipe engineering projects.
· Liaise with the Company’s corporate Technical Division (FTF) for coordination and transfer of technical capabilities, company’s know-how and conformance of proposed technical designs.
· Ensure that conceptual and/or detailed designs conform to project requirements and company’s engineering standards.
· Review flexible scope of work, compile and establish design workbook.
· Execute cross-section and end-fitting design per company’s procedures.
· Review clients and industry specifications and compile clarification and qualification list.
· Perform QA of fellow engineers as required following established process.
· Liaise with Manufacturing Unit and Global Product Line for resolution of technical and/or manufacturing challenges (NCRs, Out-of-Standards, etc.).
· Liaise with PMT for activity progresses as required.
· Generate macros and small excel or Mathcad routines as required.
· Generate, Review Flexible Pipe Ancillaries design requirements (Bend restrictor, bend stiffener, anodes, …), and manage the corresponding suppliers through delivery to the project.
· Attend / participate / present in KOM, PPM, HIRAs and Readiness Reviews.
Ensure all actions are addressed and implemented into the appropriate procedures.
· Comply with corporate standards, Client requirements, government regulations and industry standards.
· Coordinate with Customers, Suppliers and/or Consultants and manage all issues related to the packages or interfaces.
· Develop models for in-place configuration and analyses.
· Discuss with Client regarding flexible pipe engineering topic: e.g., project progress, technical topics, specification review, risk assessment, clarification and qualifications, etc.…
· Establish or be responsible of design report, technical documentation and drawings for all required analysis and project needs (vendor specifications, white papers, technical notes, etc).
As required, supervise progress of work assigned to other company’s entities and proactively support resolution of engineering challenges.
· Identify interfaces for each package (Installation, Fabrication, Logistic, etc.) and ensure product / equipment / services ordered encompasses all the project requirement and is agreed by all.
· Liaise with Manufacturing Units, Global Product Line for resolution of technical and/or manufacturing challenges and provide technical justification (e.g., Technical Queries, Non-Conformance Reports, Out-of-Standards).
· Liaise with SENIOR engineers, LEAD engineers and/or Supervisor to proceed design and analysis activities (e.g., review flexible scope of work, compile and establish design workbook, execute cross-section, end-fitting and component design per company’s procedures, QA, tools preparation).
· Liaise with R&D Center to prepare and follow the projects qualification tests.
· Manage / perform field engineering to ensure oversight of relevant fabrication, testing and on-site / offshore installation activities.
· Management of Vendors / Subcontractors for the supply of project required equipment / personnel (i.e., Technicians).
· Prepare Technical Bid Evaluation of Commercial proposals and interface with company’s disciplines as required for the delivery of the package and choice of the best supplier: commercially / HSE and technically.
· Participate in the identification of work scope risks and development of risk mitigations.
Ensure the risks are managed and the mitigations are implemented into the appropriate procedures.
· Provide guidance and mentoring to the assigned Graduate Engineers or intern.
· Reinforce and strengthen the HSES culture at every opportunity and promote correct HSES behaviors through personal actions.
· Travel on manufacturing site abroad as needed for Kick-off meeting, workshops, etc.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred or equivalent with 5 to 10 or more years of experience.
· Strong technical skills in engineering.
· Strong project management skills.
· Strong presentation and coaching skills.
· Advanced organizational and problem-solving skills.
· Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of subsea field architecture items and associated challenges.
· 1 year minimum professional experience of design and analysis software: e.g.
Orcaflex©, EFLEX ®, PVTsim®.
· Proficiency with French and/or Portuguese language a plus.
· 2 years minimum experience in offshore pipeline installation, design and manufacturing related activities preferred.
· Strong flexible pipe design skills preferred for GoM applications: Deepwater designs for water depth 3,000-10,000ft and HP/HT design.
· Advanced understanding of unbonded flexible pipe components, design checks and failure modes
· Able to effectively communicate in English, both oral and written.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
· Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally as needed to support project operations and meetings.
Work Environment: Spends 50-70% time in an office environment and/or 30-50% in a shop or field environment supporting product installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and/or interventions.
May be exposed to possible hazards including noise, outdoor temperature extremes, chemicals, pressure testing, heavy lift operations and shop/field traffic.
Physical Demands: Office environment requires sitting, operating a computer, walking and some lifting.
Hands-on labor in shop and/or field environment, which requires lifting, walking, stooping, bending, and some climbing.
