Section 1: PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Job Summary:

This is a sales position in the EP Product Division.  The Specialty Tools Sales Rep will have assigned account responsibility and associated annual sales revenue plan.  The annual revenue plan will be determined by the Sales Management, based on US EP goals and objectives.  At minimum, a quarterly territory business plan will be required from the representative to establish sales revenue objectives, particularly focused on under-developed accounts within the assigned territory. 

Section 2: ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for achieving assigned revenue goals for all accounts in the territory.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with new and existing territory customers.
  • Develops and maintain relationships with Abbott counterparts in assigned territory.
  • Develops and maintains an understanding of Abbott’s EP products and competitive technologies
  • Provides sales and technical support in response to field inquiries and customer requirements
  • Provides support as needed in the following areas:  sales support, training & education, clinical studies/data collection, new product in-service training, fellow’s programs etc.
  • Develops and adheres to actionable business plan.
  • Performs required administrative sales duties, e.g., filing expense account reports, scheduling appointments, and making travel plans.
  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
  • Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Interacts with customers and assigned institutions, physicians and technicians, customer purchasing and administration.
  • Interacts with all levels of sales and sales management staff
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
  • Ability to work with excel, PowerPoint and other reporting programs to manage sales and territory data
  • Ability to interpret and use sales data to manage territory and accounts effectively

Section 3: EDUCATION & COMPETENCIES

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or four years of relevant work experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
  • 3-5 years of successful sales or related business experience in medical device sales, preferably in cardiology or electrophysiology
  • Well organized, capable of juggling multiple projects and accustomed to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent personal computer skills including MS Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Schedule flexibility for case coverage and client meetings after hours and on weekends.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25-50% of the time, dependent on territory geography.

Preferred:

  • Experience with direct quota attainment and performance metrics

Equipment:

Works with cellular phone, personal computer, iPad and product line technology.  Operates a motor vehicle for trips to various company sites and outside vendor, field, and customer locations; and to commute to various airports for airline travel.

Working Conditions:

Work environment varies from office/field- including physician office procedure rooms and hospital operation rooms/personal residence with a low to moderate noise level to a variety of conditions caused by travel requirements such as customer offices, research labs, hospitals, hotels, use of automobiles, commercial travel, weather, etc.

Physical Demands:

Job activities require mobility and stamina involving a significant amount of walking, standing climbing stairs and sitting; manual dexterity to carry, reach, manipulate, handle and demonstrate company products as well as to write, telephone, use computer keyboard, etc.; stooping and kneeling to pick up and carry equipment; and the ability to communicate clearly.  Lifting requirements are normally up to 25 pounds but may exceed that on occasion. Requires clear vision and good depth perception.
