The Aerospace Space-Based InfraRed Systems and Next Generation GEO Department is looking for a talented, dedicated, and passionate engineering leader to partner with the Space Force System Command to ensure mission success for the development, acquisition and deployment of the Next generation Overhead Persistent Infrared space assets that defend against, defeat, and deter aggressive adversary behavior in space.

As SBIRS GEO and Next Gen Block 0 GEO (NGG) space vehicle communication system lead, your primary responsibility will be a lead in overseeing the design, test, and integration of the spacecraft bus communication (Com) units, as well as their integration and test.

You will help protect the Nation by supporting the development of these exciting, important, high technology next generation missile warning systems.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Serve as our Communication Subsystem lead
  • Monitor, assess, and report progress on NGG Com units’ design, development, build and test in the subcontractor and prime contractor manufacturing facilities
  • Verify, validate design and requirements of all the Com units and the overall Com system
  • Participate in failure review boards, design reviews, manufacturing reviews, test readiness reviews, test exit reviews and other technical and status reviews
  • Support cost, schedule, and technical risk assessments
  • Work collaboratively with contractors and the government team
  • Engage and lead support from the Aerospace Engineering & Technology Group (ETG) to perform mission assurance assessments, analyses, and tests.
  • Support Government decision making process by suppling fact-based and coordinated technical information
  • Lead Aerospace technical team to help solve NGG contractor design/build/test/integration issues and concerns

The locations for this position can be at customer sites at in these cities: El Segundo, CA, Waterton CO, or Sunnyvale, CA only.

This position is available as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant science or engineering field with 8 or more years of relevant experience with applicable aerospace industry experience
  • Experience in performing design, analysis, simulation, test, and integration of RF circuits
  • Familiar with space acquisition process
  • Willing to travel domestically
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance, which is issued by the US Government.

    US citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance

What You Need to be Successful
– Senior Project Engineer

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant science or engineering
  • 12 or more years of relevant experience
  • Proven track record of leading design review and technical team to resolve design/test/integration issues
  • Experience in space system acquisition process
  • Willing to travel domestically
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance, which is issued by the US Government.

    US citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
