SoCalGas: Technical Advisor Ii

Primary PurposeConduct capacity-related analysis such as bypass studies, annual operations plan, competitive analysis, and economic feasibility studies.

Provides technical support for the GSN (Gas Storage Network) SCADA system and components such as servers, workstations, PLCs, HMIs, switches, radios, applications and operating systems.

Operations and Maintenance client support.

Project support, development and management.Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelops and reviews gas distribution procedures and designs associated tools, equipment, and pipeline components.Prescribes test methods for evaluating materials for use in the distribution system.Develops, maintains and supports all manner of GSN equipment, applications and processesDocuments and trains others on O& M procedures.Provides technical assistance to clients through the support of programs, technology and strategic applications.Tests and evaluates new technologies, tools, materials and equipment as appropriate.Plans and coordinates project implementation and hand off to clients.Serves as a consultant and project leader on special teams, utilizing individual skills and teamwork to resolve issues.Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).EducationBachelor’s degree preferredExperience5 years of relevant experience and specialized knowledge specific to the area of expertise.

Required.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of natural gas compression and purification systems and related controls, instrumentation.Working knowledge and/or ability to learn the following:Windows Operating Systems (e.G., Server 2012 and Win10)VMwareGE Proficy/iFIXOSIsoft PIRockwell Automation FactoryTalk applicationsRS Logix 5, 500, 5000, Studio 5000 DesignerRS LinxEmerson Rosemount Transmitters and Wireless GatewaysOther related hardware, systems and applicationsExpertise in SCADA systems including sensors, transmitters, PLC’s, HMI applications, data historians and their computer network interconnections and operations.Proficiency in gathering analyzing data to develop sound, logical, alternative solutions to existing field operations.Working knowledge of project management principles.Able to manage, coordinate and plan several projects simultaneously.Ability to work independently and in a team environment.Must have effective oral and written communication skills to develop and present technical information to diverse audiences.Ability to develop and interpret statistical information and reports.Deals effectively with ambiguity, has good business sense, highly innovative and creative, demonstrates analytical abilities and high standards for performance and improvement.Equal Opportunity Employer Minorities/Women/Protected Veterans/Disabled
