Public Affairs brings together teams responsible for engaging with the company’s stakeholders. This organization exists to support, strengthen and protect Wells Fargo’s reputation by building trust, brand reputation, and positive business results.  This includes advocating for Wells Fargo’s business priorities, executing an enterprise brand strategy and enhancing the company’s social impact and sustainability through the work we do.  Teams within Public Affairs include: Communications,  Government Relations & Public Policy, Social Impact & Sustainability, and Strategy & Transformation.

Reporting to the head of Small Business Growth Philanthropy, this newly created position will serve as the chief architect of innovation for small business growth philanthropy.  He / she will provide strategic leadership and identify investments that yield early product learnings or help scale new solutions.  This highly visible position can be located in Los Angeles, CA; New York, NY; San Francisco, CA or Washington, DC and does not offer relocation assistance.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Partner with key stakeholders to develop strategies and plans for small business innovation initiatives
  • Develop innovation agenda and pipeline for small business growth philanthropy
  • Lead ideation of new or improved credit, savings, deposit and investment products
  • Establish metrics, measure impact and effectiveness of investments
  • Identify trends and evaluate product offerings for investment opportunities
  • Develop processes and tools to hold everyone accountable for execution of their deliverables
  • Develop management reports and data visualizations, highlighting impact and effectiveness
  • Collaborate on innovation and research, as well as product and policy development
  • Serve as a SME and provide updates around best practices, portfolio partners and community priorities

Wells Fargo’s Small Business Growth Philanthropy is aimed at helping entrepreneurs access capital and technical assistance so they can expand their impact on the economy and ability to provide jobs.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of community development experience
  • 2+ years of leadership experience
  • 5+ years of small business philanthropy experience

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Experience developing credit, savings, deposit and/or investment products
  • Experience leveraging customer behavior data and analytics to maximize innovation impact
  • Experience working large/complex projects and driving philanthropic initiatives
  • Experience looking at ideas/products through a customer-centric lens
  • Experience developing metrics to measure impact and effectiveness
  • Experience evaluating investments, developing financial projections and analyzing variances
  • Experience presenting information that persuades, educates, and enhances understanding at all levels
  • Experience building strong relationships and collaborating across large organizations

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
