Sleep Technologist

POSITION STANDARDSSuccessful Completion of the Clinical Sleep Educators course by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists and Registered Polysomnographic Technologist is required.

The Certification in Clinical Sleep Health (CCSH) credential is preferred.Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

Maintain positive communication and relationships with all levels of management, employees, and individuals outside the organization.Objectively coach patients through complex, difficult and emotional issues.

Strict adherence to confidentiality is essential.Computer skills necessary with proficiency in the use of sleep software applications, smart card applications, actigraphy software, Microsoft applications and internet is required.

Experience with Meditech and Greenway is optimal but not required.Current BCLS certification required within 30 days of hire.POSITION PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSAnything listed here requires a pre-employment physical by Employee Health to determine if the employee is capable of meeting the requirements.Physical Activity:Upper Extremity:Push/Pull/Lift/Carry:PART TWO: FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY Position ObjectiveThe primary function of the PolysomnographicTechnologist II position is focused on clinical functions including clinicworkflow, evaluation and testing of sleep patients.

Works under the generalsupervision of the Medical Director (MD, PhD, DO) or designee and the directsupervision of the Manager of Cardiopulmonary and Sleep Health Center.

Must beable to work independently.Performance ExpectationClinic Flow:Preparation of the patient charts prior to arrival, including entering all patients’ past medical, physical, and social history, including medications.

Reviews information with patient, takes vitals, and starts the office documentation.

Prepares providers Rx refills and other paperwork as necessary to maintain required deadlinesTraining/Education:Provideseducation to the patient about sleep disordered breathing and treatment oftheir disorder.

Reviews compliance download data, explains the report to thepatient, based on the report technologist will decide to take action inrefitting for optimal therapy.Polysomnographic Procedures:Collects data for sleep studies performed including, but not limited to, baseline polysomnogram, CPAP Titration studies, Multiple Sleep Latency Test, Maintenance Wakefulness Test, Home Sleep Tests, Actigraphy and PAP Nap studies.

Uses standard criteria outlined by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.Polysomnographic Record Scoring:Analyzes sleep/wake stages including respiratory, limb, arousal, and cardiac rhythms.

Compile a report based on the data analyzed.Additional Responsibilities:Other duties as assigned such as, but not limited to, office functions, scheduling appointments, registering patients, and obtain prior insurance approvals.

May be asked to cover the night shift if capacity warrants.
