Job Description

AECOM is seeking motivated and driven Engineering Professionals in the Civil Engineering Discipline with a focus in Site Civil Engineering to be based in Los Angeles, California for East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit project.

JOB INFORMATION:

While the position is primarily for East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit Project, AECOM has an impressive backlog of significant transportation projects in the Greater Los Angeles area and transit/rail projects across West Region and provides exceptional opportunity for professional growth. This position is based out of our Downtown Los Angeles office location and allows for a hybrid working scenario including for in-office collaboration sessions as well as remote work.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participate in the development of concept, preliminary and detailed engineering drawing, and plans, including general and drainage plan drawings, plan/profile drawings, section drawings, and detail drawings.
Complete design activities to specified standards including earthworks modelling and design, sanitary and storm sewer design, watermain design, grading of roads and drive aisles, lot grading, and Low Impact Development (LID) for purposes of stormwater management.
Supports Technical Leads in performing independent technical reviews of engineering reports and design
Contribute to engineering design assignments in a team environment on large-scale project teams.
Participate in planning on design tasks for successful implementation of the project deliverables
Actively participate in project meetings
Interfacing with permitting agencies and supporting permit approvals
Technical report writing, including design memoranda and special studies and reports
Mentor, train and oversee the work of junior staff as well as maintain a hands-on role in the production of deliverables.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of current engineering software (AutoCAD, Civil3D, etc) and follow drafting and file naming standards
Convey technical information utilizing clear verbal and written skills
Communicate regularly with supervisor and project team members regarding updates on assigned tasks in a clear, timely manner.
Management of projects through construction, including field visits and contractors interface, RFI response and preparation of construction field directives
Provides technical and field support during construction phase as necessary.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Current working experience with design software Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD is preferred.
Understanding of the City of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety, and Department of Public Works codes and regulatory standards
California Professional Engineering (PE) License preferred, or ability to obtain certification at the earliest
Prior experience preparing plans, specification and/or estimates for large scale site development projects
Strong technical knowledge of standards, principles and practices of civil engineering
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time to maximum efficiency
Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with a variety of unique and diverse team members

Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $92,869 – $171,809.
