Shipping Associate

POSITION PURPOSE:This position is responsible for the shipping functions at a manufacturing plant. The Shipping Associate prepares materials and products for shipment ensuring accuracy and timeliness of delivery.PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:Accurately pull, weigh, pack, label, and prepare materials for shipment. Prepare shipping documents.Compare identifying information and counts, weigh, or measure items of outgoing shipments to verify accuracy for information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.Inspect materials, products, and containers at each step of the packaging process.Record information such as weight, time, and date packaged.Adhere to all company standards and policies.Maintain a clean and orderly work area.Conduct himself/herself in a professional manner in accordance with company guidelines.Other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Ability to operate machines including, but not limited to bar code reader, computer terminal, other electronic devices, and forklift.Knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and the capacity to learn new systems.Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills and effective organizational skills.Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Tenacity in overcoming obstacles while maintaining productive and positive working relationships.Ability to execute in a rapidly changing fast paced environment that requires strong team work.Understanding of all tools, gages, equipment, and other various instruments used to perform position.Skill in performing accurate arithmetic functions involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; using decimals, percentages, fractions, and ratios.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Required:Equivalent of high school diploma or G.E.D. certification.Previous shipping or inventory experience within a production environment.Preferred:Previous HazMat certification.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.The employee may be required to work with hazardous materials. The employee may be exposed to hot surfaces, hot air, electrical hazards, and flames. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works with moving machinery and occasionally in outside weather.
