SEO Specialist (Volunteer)

Do you excel at analyzing organizations’ websites to determine how they can optimize their content for search engines?

The nonprofit news organization WhoWhatWhy is looking for a Search Engine Optimization Specialist to help us achieve higher ranking search engine results and grow our audience.

Expectations
You will work remotely and on your own schedule, though we require a minimum commitment of 6-10 hours a week.

Because our staff is spread throughout the world, we communicate mostly through email.

All staff are required to respond to emails on a daily basis.

Responsibilities
SEO strategy for both short-term and long-term success Optimizing copy and landing pages for search engine optimization.

Develop/maintain keyword mapping
– performing ongoing keyword research including discovery and expansion, assigning relevant keywords to website pages to optimize on-page search engine optimization.

Researching and implementing content recommendations for organic SEO success.

Daily monitoring of on-site and off-site SEO factors that impact qualified lead generation across tactics Create and maintain SEO project timelines and results (keyword rankings, local rankings, ORM cleanup) Outreach and link building, including sponsorships, education, blogs, etc.

Competitor analysis, industry research, and up-to-date SEO best practice for algorithm and UX/UI changes Reporting and analysis using SEO tools and staying abreast of and adopting best technology strongly Work with team members to satisfy all aspects of SEO research and growth
Qualifications
At least 2 years experience in content marketing, content growth and SEO.

Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills.

Leverage data to make intelligent, actionable business decisions A creative mindset towards analyses of how we can get our content out to more readers Can collaborate with team members at all levels to ensure projects are consistent with best practices, compliance and overall project goals, as well as work independently, in a virtual environment.

Excellent oral and written communication skills Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
