Responsibilities
The Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior is seeking to hire a full-time Senior Statistician to join UCLA’s Integrated Substance Abuse Program.
You will be part of the Greater Southern California Node of the Clinical Trials Network (CTN) projects.
Primary duties include:
Perform statistical analyses on large scale research projects with complex Electronic Health System data
Data cleaning and data harmonization to understand complex data
Conducting appropriate statistical tests and models to analyze the data
Consultation with principal investigators on appropriate experimental designs and statistical planning for research projects with complex designs
Writing rigorous and replicable programming code as necessary to conduct analyses
Contribute to preparation of journal articles, presentations, manuscripts, and grant proposals.
Qualifications
Doctorate’s degree in related field
Demonstrated experience in statistics, biostatistics, bioinformatics, economics or a closely related field
Minimum four years of professional statistical experience
Demonstrated ability to conduct statistical analyses using R, STATA, SAS, or similar statistical software packages
Experience working with big data analytics technologies and tools.

Experience in health, mental health, or substance use-related research
Experience working with data from Electronic Health Records and other government systems (e.g., criminal justice, Medicaid)
Demonstrated ability to write journal-quality manuscripts
Excellent verbal communication skills and an ability to present findings before an audience
