Headquartered in West Hollywood, Pluto TV has offices in New York, Silicon Valley, Chicago and Berlin.Overview and ResponsibilitiesThis critical Service Reliability Engineering role on the Pluto TV Team includes responsibilities for system and server management, database management, configuration management, troubleshooting, preventative and corrective maintenance, performance monitoring and enhancement for our cloud / hosted large scale consumer video service.
The Engineer in this role will lead the charge during critical incidents, enabling the Production Operations group to increase reliability across various tools and technologies.
Beyond firefighting, we’re looking for a star Engineer for our Service/Site Reliability group who has proficiency in backend systems and is confident with high volume and high-performance Node.jsServers, as well as vast knowledge of AWS to apply to both short and long term fixes for code and infrastructure.Responsibilities IncludeThis is a critical role with a wide range of responsibilities, including:Design and perform system and server management, database management, configuration management, deep troubleshooting, preventative and corrective maintenance, performance monitoring and enhancement for cloud / hosted large scale consumer video serviceRespond to emerging incidents, solve critical issues, and follow through with a plan for resolution or future mitigationAct as a SME on Service Reliability for Production Operations and the Engineering Organization, partnering with groups such as Roku or Android to overcome challenges across all the platforms which stream our serviceBasic QualificationsQualities / Experience We’re SeekingWe believe the right individual will have the following skills and experience in order to be successful in the role:7+ years’ experience in software developmentDegree in Computer Science or related or equivalent work experienceExperience designing, implementing and running Node.js servers in demanding high traffic environmentsExperience building service-oriented APIs (GraphQL and REST API) and cloud services (preferable against AWS)Fully understands the concepts of “infrastructure as code”Experience writing for and deploying to AWS leveraging microservicesExtremely technical hands-on server software experienceAdditional QualificationsBonus Points for Experience with the following:Javascript, React or AngularMongoDBRedisPostgreSQLHLS video transcoding, distribution and playbackExpressHapi.JSViacomCBS is an equal opportunity employer (EOE) including disability/vet.At ViacomCBS, the spirit of inclusion feeds into everything that we do, on-screen and off.
