Senior Solution Engineer, Biometrics

We are a growing multinational technical security company based in Austin that offers its employees a Senior Solutions Engineer, Biometrics is responsible for understanding customer problems and derives requirements to assist in identifying potential opportunities for our existing HW and SW offerings as well as professional services and software customization engagements.

A Solution Engineer is self-directed, capable of leading technical sales activities, managing the customer technical relationship, and assuming subject matter expert responsibilities within HID.

As the technical member of the Biometrics field team, our Solutions Engineers possess the highest levels of both business and technical acumen – understanding customer business drivers, matching those to HID’s technology and clearly articulating complex solutions to existing and prospective customers.

This position is specifically seeking a highly motivated professional with significant experience in the US Federal, State, and Local government biometrics and identity management market.

This role serves as part of the Biometrics Sales team, contributing to the technical aspects of the customer engagement.

This position is accountable for providing a complex technical solution to customers based on HID hardware, software, and services.

Ideal candidate must have the ability to prepare proposal documentation for large and complex projects involving system integration.

The individual needs to be able to interpret complex customer requirements and work closely with regional sales, product managers and systems teams to offer solutions that maximize value for the customer.

The individual will cooperate with and support Sales with technical information that is required to respond to requests for quotes, tenders and requests for information.

What you will be doing Work with other functional teams, including Product Management, Services and Engineering to architect, build, validate and document biometric leading solutions for partners and customers.

Assess project requirements and influence solution design and decision-making processes to help drive robust, advanced solutions that are deliverable by HID Biometric Field implementation teams on customer sites.

Advise customers by identifying their problems and needs while taking into consideration the potential for tailoring HID offerings to meet customer requirements.

Provide technical consulting using best practices for the design and deployment of solutions to HID Sales, Partners and Customers.

Serve as HID’s pre and post-sales technical liaison for the Customer’s technical point-of-contact.

Provide technical consultation and written content as part of an RFI and RFP response team.

Obtain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

Provide technical support to the Biometric Sales organization by performing technical demonstrations and facilitating the use of demonstration equipment.

Liaise with Product management and engineering teams to define solutions that meet specific customer requirements.

Possess knowledge of relevant basic and specific business standards, guidelines, processes and laws.

Attend trade shows and internal meetings as required.

Willing to learn how to configure our products to build demonstration that will show how our technology solve their problems.

What we are looking for Minimum 5 years experience on solution engineering or similar role in a technical industry.

Excellent Requirements Analysis, Software Requirements gathering.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to creatively engineer a solution to solve customer problem.

Problem solving, with a focus on selling to customer needs.

Product knowledge and understanding of the Product Development lifecycle.

Excellent presentation skills.

Understanding of enterprise computer networking standards.

Basic technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Windows Server platforms.

Practical understanding of Networking architectures, routers, hubs, and transmission protocols such as (TCP/IP, FTP, NFS, SMTP).

Knowledge of Active Directory Good understanding of cloud computing or services which relate to software, platforms and infrastructure that are sold “as a service” Good understanding of Encryption standards (VPN/TLS/SSL), FIPS 140-2 Standards.

Good understanding of relational database offerings and customer usage such as Microsoft SQL, My SQL.

Able to organize and manage numerous tasks and initiatives simultaneously.

Ability to work independently Who you are Bachelor’s degree in related fields of computer information system is required Master’s degree desirable, not required, and Technical Certifications are a plus Candidates with equivalent education plus relevant job experience may also be considered Minimum 8-years of technical experience with technical sales delivering solution requirements definition, design and problem resolution Experience with statements of work and technical proposals Experience and understanding of software solutions and professional services offerings Experience with working as a liaison between Sales and an Engineering team Experience with fingerprint or other biometric solutions is desired Able to manage technical solutions by performing basic project management functions and providing meeting minutes and action items Experience in Enterprise level solutions from the design, engineering and understanding of complex deployments across distributed systems
