Senior Security Engineer

Software Resources has an immediate job opportunity for a Senior Security Engineer in Century City, CA.

4+ month contract

Primary Function : The Sr. Security Engineer is responsible for assisting the CISO with the overall direction of all security functions associated with Information Technology applications, communications (voice and data), and computing services within the enterprise. At the same time this individual should be familiar with requirements and standards such as Sarbanes Oxley Section 404 requirements and ISO 27001/27018 and related Standards, and with GDPR .

The engineer has the responsibility for assisting with global and enterprise-wide information security; and for helping with establishing standards for the physical security of information resources, and the privacy of the corporation and its employees. This is a hands-on position, using tools and experience to help investigate, mitigate and remediate.

The Sr. Security Engineer may also have occasion to access systems and storage areas, such as, but not limited to, SharePoint, OneDrive, email, file shares and applications that contain Protected Health Information (PHI). In those cases, the access requirements will be related to security functions about the media or data, such as applying and verifying protection mechanisms, monitoring appropriate use, and conducting investigations regarding the use and management of such systems and data.

Responsibilities of the Security Engineer

  • Assist with creating actionable plans for infrastructure teams from security reviews.
  • Creation of documentation for the Security Management System, in line with ISO 27001.
  • Develop best practices and security standards for the organization.
  • Assist other team members when required.

Qualifications for Security Engineer

  • Ideally will have CISSP or equivalent level of experience, with at least 7 years of experience.
  • Broad range of experience, highly intelligent and adaptable and able to work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to translate complex security concepts for stakeholders.
  • Enjoy working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Preferably has experience of securing AWS and Azure environments.
  • Knowledge of coding/ development best practices.
  • Experience of working with ISO 27001
  • Excellent fundamental understanding of computing concepts, such as networking, storage, cloud technologies and security concepts.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Education: An undergraduate degree is required; graduate degree preferred.
Technical certifications are a plus – CISSP Certification is preferred.

  • This position requires a BS or BA degree in business or computer science with an emphasis in information technology and a minimum of seven years of experience in computing and security, including experience with Internet technology and security issues. The position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, previous leadership, management and supervisory experience, and excellent time management abilities. The individual should demonstrate initiative, exercise good judgment, exhibit strong profit orientation, and have the ability to achieve results through others. Included is that the individual:
  • Must be an intelligent, articulate and persuasive leader who can serve as an effective member of the senior management team and who is able to communicate security-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff.
  • Should have experience with business continuity planning, auditing, and risk management, as well as contract and vendor negotiation.
  • Some background in law, law enforcement or intelligence is a plus. Must have a solid understanding of information technology and information security (including firewalls, VPNs, penetration testing and other security devices.)
  • Ability to work and effectively prioritize in a highly dynamic work environment.
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning, testing, auditing, risk analysis, business resumption planning, contingency planning; TCP/IP firewalls, VPNs and other security devices; as well as contract and vendor negotiation experience.
  • CISSP certification is strongly preferred.
