Overall Purpose: This career step requires senior level experience. The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train (ART).

The RTEs major responsibilities are to:

  • Facilitate the ART events and processes.
  • Assist the teams in delivering value, identify cross-team dependencies and economic decision making by rolling up team estimation to the program level for visibility.
  • Foster continuous improvements via Inspect and Adapt Workshops and regularly review program boards, feature/story burndowns and burn ups to understand PI progress.
  • RTEs communicate with stakeholders, escalate and remove impediments, help manage risk, and drive relentless improvement.
  • Single point of contact for the Product Owners and Project Manager and the point of escalation for the Scrum Master.
  • Establish the annual calendars for the Program Increments and sprints, facilitate release planning readiness including support of backlog management, event coordination and leadership.

Education: Preferred Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Science, Electrical Engineering, or Math; Developer nanodegree; or equivalent experience.

Experience: Typically requires 5-8 years experience. Technical Career Pathway (TCP) role.

Salary Range

Our Senior Release Train Engineer can earn between $115,600 to $231,100 depending on experience and location. Not to mention all of the other amazing rewards that working at DIRECTV offers.
