Senior Process Engineer – Relocate to Wilmington, NC

Job Description

Stepan is currently looking for a Senior Process Engineer for our plant located in Wilmington, NC.   In this role, you will report to the Process Engineering Team Leader. The Process Engineer III position plays a vital role in plant operations by managing capital projects from conceptual stages and cost estimates, through design, construction and start up stages.  The incumbent must conduct plant process engineering activities by developing innovative ideas into cost effective, workable solutions, inclusive of technical support to manufacturing and maintenance in order to positively impact safety, quality, capacity, efficiency. Relocation provided for those that are moving from out of state.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring the safe maintenance of plant and equipment in line within internal and regulatory requirements (site and corporate policies/procedures).
  • Initiates and Verifies approved MOCs for changes prior to work and highlights safety concerns for new projects and installations.
  • Participate in Accident and Incident Investigations and analysis.
  • Manages & leads capital projects from conceptual stages through startup of process or processes.
  • Manage and conduct plant process engineering activities
  • Coordinates project/process initiatives and leads meetings on assignments and time schedules agreed upon.
  • Provides cost estimates and secures qualified contractors for projects/process improvements.
  • Ability to coordinate through others and provide teamwork to move project/process improvements forward.
  • Serve as technical resource for the operations and maintenance teams.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in process engineering an management of projects
  • Familiar with a broad range of chemical processes and plant operations.
  • Good communication skills, ability to summarize technical issues to the plant floor.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management
  • Batch chemical operations experience
  • Experience in small and medium capital projects
  • CAD, AutoCAD or equivalent  skills
  • Competent in heat and material balances
  • Process Modeling Programs (ASPEN)
  • Pump sizing
  • Knowledge of PSM regulations.
  • Familiar with relief device calculations

Education

  • BS Engineering Degree or equivalent
