•Provide guidance on privacy related initiatives and serve as the subject matter expert on privacy laws and regulations
•Identify and guide resolution for privacy compliance issues
•Perform privacy investigations; participate in privacy projects and audits
•Conduct contract reviews and analysis (e.g. Business Associate Agreements, Data Use Agreements, etc.)
•Prepare and maintain documentation related to privacy compliance or privacy requirements
•Bachelor’s degree in a related field is highly preferred
•3+ years’ experience working in an academic medical center environment with emphasis on professional privacy and compliance activities, including but not limited to: auditing, monitoring, investigation and training is highly desirable
•In-depth knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations affecting the management of protected health information (PHI)
•In-depth knowledge of federal and state statutes, laws, rules and regulations affecting privacy practices
•Working knowledge of the 7 elements of an effective compliance program
•Experience in navigating electronic health records systems, such as EPIC, is highly preferred
•Certification in CHC, CHPC, CIPP is a bonus
•Excellent communication skills
•Strong organizational skills with ability to analyze and synthesize information quickly
