FRB is looking to hire a seasoned Senior Counsel, Consumer Real Estate Lending to be based in San Francisco.

This Senior Counsel will join an existing legal team that supports commercial lending, consumer lending, and deposits activity nationwide.

The successful candidate will guide the execution of business plans and other initiatives that support Consumer Real Estate Lending activities and will act as a primary legal advisor on deals across all residential real estate and activity nationwide, guiding the Bank in all jurisdictions where it operates, with a focus on federal and state legal requirements applicable to consumer lending.

This position will work closely with client-facing bankers to assist with loan transactions from origination through closing and will also interact with other FRB attorneys to assist on broader legal matters.

What you’ll be doing as a Senior Counsel, Consumer Real Estate Lending:
Providing legal advice and services to the Single-Family Residential Lending business line.

Ensuring the business line complies with all applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and guidance.

Drafting, consulting, and advising (both internally and externally) on documentation for all consumer lending products.

Assisting in in the formulation, communication, and implementation of strategic business plans and other strategic and systems initiatives to help the busines line function more efficiently.

Managing outside counsel and vendors as appropriate.

Advising regarding title insurance matters, including helping guide the business on applicable title insurance policies and procedures and monitoring title insurance litigations.

Producing deliverables to support internal and external audits, regulatory examinations, or any other oversight review in the set time frame.

Performing other duties specific to department functions and/or supporting broader corporate needs as appropriate.

You could be a great fit if you have:

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Seven (7) plus years of related legal experience in-house, at another leading bank, or in private practice (or some combination thereof).

Experience advising on compliance with federal and state real estate, consumer lending, consumer protection, and/or privacy laws Expertise analyzing and drafting transactional and other legal documents.

An undergraduate degree and a JD from a top institution; licensed to practice law in California.

Other highly valuable experience includes: An understanding of banking laws and regulations.

Familiarity with private banking offerings, including deposit and credit products and estate/trust law and services.

Experience overseeing/coordinating litigation (including title litigation) and working across the table from top corporate law firm attorneys.
