Senior Benefits Administrator
Essential Functions
- Responsible for the administration of employee benefits and leave administration programs such as retirement plans; medical, dental, vision plans; life insurance plans; short-term, temporary or long-term leave and/or disability programs; and wellness programs.
- Primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries between employees, partners and Human Resources (HR)
- Partner with our external broker and internal leadership to evaluate and compare existing company benefits for competitive purposes.
- Install approved new plans or changes to existing plans by preparing announcement materials, plan summary documents and other internal media communications plans for employees. Conduct employee meetings and oversee all plan open enrollment responsibilities.
- Be the internal subject matter expert on all of our benefit plan documents.
- Prepare and execute, with legal consultation, benefits documentation, such as original and amended plan texts, associated agreements and insurance policies. Instruct insurance carriers, trustees and other administrative agencies outside the company to effect changes in leave and/or benefits programs. Ensure prompt and accurate compliance.
- Responsible for the compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act and the Affordable Care Act. Supervise preparation of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, such as Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, insurance commissioners, and other regulatory agencies. Review and analyze changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits and leave administration while reporting any and all necessary or suggested changes to management. Coordinate company benefits with government-sponsored programs.
- Provide all benefits/leave administration information and statistical and census data for actuaries, insurance carriers and management.
- Handle benefits and leave inquiries and complaints internally and externally to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution. Maintain contact in person, and by phone or mail, with hospitals, physicians, insurance companies, employees, and beneficiaries to facilitate proper and complete utilization of benefits for all employees.
- Partner with the finance team to ensure associated payroll actions with benefits and leave administration is aligned and accurate.
- Supervise maintenance of enrollment and claims records for all benefits plans.
- Develops techniques for compiling, preparing and presenting data.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of related work experience
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Effective verbal and written communications skills
