Drive security vehicles in order to inspect exterior grounds/parking facilities with exposure to temperature extremes.
Responsibilities This is an armed position responsible for providing protection for employees, building, and peripheral property.
Ensure identification of employees and visitors by issuing identification cards using the computerized identification system.
Issue vehicle tags, pick-up removal slips, and parking citations.
Maintain security post and guard property against damage, fire, theft, trespassing, and illegal entry.
Conduct foot patrol of interior and exterior to check entrances, doors, windows and vents are locked and secure against break-ins.
Provide parking lot security and vehicle traffic control.
Monitor surroundings on closed-circuit television.
Detect suspicious persons, activity, and threats to property or people and respond based on training.
Investigate disturbances and security breaches.
Use approved defense tactics, maneuvers, or non-lethal weapons to subdue resisting subjects, or restrain and detain unruly individuals until the arrival of the proper authorities.
May provide security escorts for facility employees, and visitors.
Respond to health emergencies and administer basic first aid when required.
Inform appropriate management of safety, security, and other hazards.
Prepare incident reports of all accidents, thefts, and other criminal matters.
Maintain composure and perform well under stressful and very intense situations.
Serve as a member of the Rapid Response Team responsible for responding to and addressing active assailants or other threatening situations at company locations.
In situations that justify the use of a firearm, use extreme judgment, emotional control, and caution to load, unload, aim and fire handguns, shotguns, and other company-approved firearms.
Use authorized weapons, protective gear, and devices, while maintaining awareness of and ensuring personal safety and the safety of others.
Meet any applicable state, county, and municipal licensing and permit requirements for Armed Security Officers and specific protective device and weapons qualifications.
Participate in the implementation of emergency procedures such as fire, accidents, evacuation, and traffic control.
Maintain records of lost and found property.
Hold bank deposits when pick-up is delayed.
Maintain knowledge of security techniques by attending training.
Perform miscellaneous specialized tasks as requested.
Requirements Education: College-level coursework in Criminal Justice, Security, Business Administration or a related field OR equivalent work experience completion of required training in carrying and operating firearms possess and maintain a valid Michigan Concealed Pistol License or must be able to obtain a valid Michigan Concealed Pistol License within nine months of being hired possession of a valid Michigan Driver’s license Experience: Five years of experience as an armed certified law enforcement officer, military police, P.A.
330 security police officer, corporate security officer, or private security for a high profile client Knowledge of: Electronic security equipment and alarm access control systems Criminal and civil law as it relates to private security in the area of arrest, search & seizure, the rules of evidence, Investigative procedures, and use of force Proper procedures and techniques for operating firearms Techniques to manage stress and control highly emotional situations Ability to: Successfully complete drug screening Successfully complete psychological evaluation Successfully complete firearms and use of force training Learn and master active shooter and active threat management tactical response techniques Work in environments and under conditions that require carrying authorized weapons and ammunition and use protective gear and devices Demonstrate sound judgment and control when operating company approved firearms Perform other physical activities necessary to perform essential job duties and responsibilities including walking, standing, running, walking/running stairs, driving, lifting, carrying, climbing, reaching and restraining/detaining violators Lift and/or transport packages weighing up to thirty (30) pounds Operate firefighting equipment, first aid equipment, computers, office equipment and access control equipment, fire systems, and other equipment used by the Security Services Department Safely operate a motor vehicle in order to monitor building/grounds Patrol building and property to identify security breaches Operate a personal computer Prepare daily report regarding shift activities Communicate effectively with others in a work environment and with the public Demonstrate good public relations and customer service skills Willingness to work off-shifts or weekends as required Preferred Qualifications: Associate Degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice or related field Important Note: The above statements describe the principal and essential functions, but not all functions that may be inherent in the job.
