Responsibilities You will operate specialized equipment designed to deter, detect, and defend against potential security breaches, terrorist activity, sabotage, espionage, trespass, theft, fire and accidental or willful damage and destruction.

You will enforce pertinent administrative rules and regulations governing access control and breaches in physical security, to include but not limited to fences, gates, piers, or other barriers.

You will conduct commercial, private and government vehicle inspections using a variety of approved technologies.

You will make immediate, independent and sound tactical decisions regarding the installation?s overall force protection posture.

Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-4 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Screening and/or inspecting personal and commercial vehicles requesting installation access; 2) Controlling personnel access by verifying identification/ credentials; 3) Patrolling buildings or perimeters for suspicious activity; and 4) Maintaining desk logs, desk journals, and pass-down logbooks to document security events.

Requires physical stamina, agility and strength to defend themselves and defend others.

DoD and DoN regulations require at a minimum a periodic physical agility/ability test.

Officers undergo sustainment training to include Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) qualifications, handcuffing, and firearms qualifications, which require physical strength, skill, and stamina.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is performed in an environment, which involves exposure to regular and recurring discomforts such as variations in weather while performing NSF duties.

The incumbent may be exposed to high levels of noise, destructive weather, or higher FPCON.

The work involves moderate and high risks and possible endangerment of life or serious injury that requires the exercise of safety precautions and use of personal protective equipment such as body armor, reflective vests, coats, gloves, helmets, boots, goggles, masks, shields, etc.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.

A forty-hour work week is typical of this position.

This position is subject to shift work, recall and/or unplanned overtime work.

Incumbent must successfully complete a required NSF Guard Training Course.

Must also successfully complete any annual sustainment training, Level 1 OC containment training (if applicable), and OC refresher training.

This position does not meet the definition of Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) and is excluded from coverage as LEO for purposes of the Federal Employment Retirement System-Base Annuity in accordance with 5 CFR, Part 842, Subpart H.

Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Retention) may be authorized to eligible selectees.

A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee.

A relocation incentive may be authorized.

You will be required to sign a two year service agreement.

Failure to fulfill the two year service agreement may result in repayment of incentive.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.

Several vacancies may be filled.

A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
