Seasonal TOC Operator

SummaryThe TOC Operator will perform multiple job functions and ensure that all technical facility requests are met. Works closely with NFL Media Production team, Newsroom personnel, NFL Films Technical Operations, Encompass Atlanta Technical Operation, and members of all 32 NFL Clubs to ensure all video content is received and distributed to broadcast specifications. Works closely with Engineering to troubleshoot all issues that may occur with a feed or broadcast. Communicates with NFL Network Master Control during live broadcasts to ensure signal continuity. Works closely with Remote Operations team for the proper transmission and receipt of feeds for live remote network productions including Thursday Night Football, Super Bowl, NFL Combine, NFL Draft, Hall of Fame Induction and any other NFL Network remote projects. The TOC operator is the first point of troubleshooting and escalation if an issue occurs and must communicate issues to Operations and Production Management in a timely and efficient manner.Essential Functions* Demonstrate knowledge and operation of broadcast routing systems, including split routes as required.* Ability to read digital & analog waveform monitors and how to set up test bars.* Ability to read audio meters.* Must have strong understanding of SDI and digital signal flows.* Must understand and configure Multiview setups for the room per event as necessary.* Must be able to perform Sync and Fax checks prior to live shows and events.* Ability to perform extensive transmission checks prior to live remote events.* Responsible for booking and goodnight procedures for The Switch, Lumen, AT&T, Level 3 Fiber and Satellite orders.* Strong understanding of common broadcast signal problems and how to rectify them, (i.e. audio levels or distortion, sync issues, video issues.)* Requires strong oral and written skills, including excellent telephone etiquette.* Requires strong organizational skills to ensure high broadcast quality on multiple feeds.* Must be willing to adapt in a quickly changing production environment.* Experience with Cellular bonded system transmitter/receivers (TVU, LiveU, Dejero, etc..)* Responsible for the generation of broadcast reports to document on-air issues as required.* Perform other duties as assigned.Required Education and Experience* College Degree and/or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a broadcast operations environment including experience with HD/SD, ASI, J2K, Data IP transmission, Zoom/Skype, IP video workflows and MPLS signals with the ability to troubleshoot such signal paths.Preferred Education and Experience* Familiarity with following equipment: PTZ camera controllers, Wohler, SONY, Imagine Router panels, Reidel Comms, various encoding/decoding, Frame sync (IPG) operation.* SMPTE 2110 experience preferred* HDR & 4K knowledge a plusOther Key Attributes / Characteristics* Must be comfortable with the pressure associated with performing operations on a live network and be capable of remaining focused when working under pressure.* Strong technical/computer skills (Microsoft, Apple, File management, Email, Slack, MS Teams, ENPS).* Possess a strong work ethic, positive workplace approach and exhibit leadership qualities.Physical Demands* Sitting for extended periods* Able to lift packages and cases up to 15 to 20 lbsTravel* None to minimalExpected Hours of Work* Overnight Hours* Regular, consistent and punctual attendance.* Must be willing to work flexible schedules including nights weekends and holidays* The NFL maintains a Flexible Workplace Policy that provides members of our workforce with opportunities to periodically work from a location of their choice, while maintaining a priority on in-person work at an NFL office, which enables us to more effectively collaborate, connect and build a workplace culture that will drive our continued success.* We also continue to prioritize the health and safety of our NFL workforce.
