Screening Assistant – Volunteer Services

The Screening Assistant will be responsible to conduct entry screening. This position will screen employees, physicians, patients and visitors for symptoms of acute respiratory illness (e.g., fever, cough, difficulty breathing) before entering the facility. Screening will include, but not limited, to the following:Measure temperature using non-contact thermometerQuestion person entering (employee and patient/visitor) about:Covid historyCovid contactCovid symptomsFever/chills/myalgia/headacheNew onset coughShortness of breath/difficulty breathingLoss of taste/smellConjunctivitisThe Screening Assistant must be able to explain the screening process and the why and be able to manage a confrontational employee or patient/guest. The Screening Assistant must be able to wear required PPE at all times.The Screening Assistant will be responsible to greet and assist visitors. Answers telephones and provides appropriate information if applicable. May performs clerical tasks, as assigned. Works in environment of highly confidential patient information.In addition, the Screening Assistant may serve to monitor physical distance guidelines in care sites such as waiting rooms and lobbies, and request that guests abide by the guidelines set forth by the organization.Minimum Education:High School Diploma or equivalentPreferred: Graduate from an accredited program for LVN, MA or PCT(CNA). Minimum Experience/Knowledge: Preferred experience working in a clinic setting and/or acute care hospital settingMust have great customer service skills and professionalismExcellent verbal and written communication skills.Work with a sense of urgency. Required License/Certification: Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider card from the American Heart Association. LA City Fire and Safety Certification. If no certification upon hire, must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. Preferred: Medical Assistant Certification; OR Patient Care Assistant (CNA) Certification; OR License Vocational Nurse license.
