GBC International Bank is looking for an* SBA Underwriter *who will be responsible for underwriting new SBA guarantee term loans in a competitive and expedient manner while complying with the bank’s SBA underwriting standards, policies, and applicable state federal laws rules and regulations.

The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the needs of a borrower are met by underwiring the appropriate type of loan.

Essential Job Functions
Underwrite SBA guaranteed term loans and ensure the SBA eligibility, within SBA SOP guidelines for SBA guarantee and within GBC’s credit guidelines.

Conduct financial spread and cash flow analysis.

Conduct SBA term loan review and propose risk rating upgrade/downgrade if applicable.

Assist to package and close SBA guaranteed loans as a team.

Assist to keep the SOP up-to-date and provide SBA guidance and assistance to other Underwriters, Credit Analyst, Processors and Marketing Officers.

Assist to send out credit covenants reminders to SBA loan customers for collecting tax returns and financials for term loan review.

Assist to prepare or coordinate for SBA Desk Audit and PLP renewal

Comply with all BSA related training and procedures.

May have other assignments as needed.
Qualifications/Requirements
Must have over 3 years of SBA underwriting experience.

Previous work related skill, knowledge or experience is required.

Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Be detail oriented and well organized.

Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.

Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
Proficiency in Korean a plus
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree (BA) or equivalent from a 4-year college or university; 5 years or more related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work related experience should consist of SBA underwriting duties with a financial institution background.

Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.

Knowledge:
Advanced level of work experience, knowledge and training in all SBA loan servicing activities and terminology, including SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial of data.
Knowledge of packaging, originating, and underwriting SBA loans.
Advanced knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other Bank lending policies.
Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
