Position Overview: Strategically plans and coordinates the Buying function with Quality, Engineering, Planning, Estimating, Manufacturing and Financial functions.
Supports purchasing functions for operations and also provides quote support of materials for the estimating department.

Duties and Responsibilities:Selects and maintains suppliers and vendors that provide high quality products and services at best identified cost and lead time status while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conductPurchases shop materials, supplies, and services as requested by the Materials ManagerFollows policies and procedures to evaluate supplier quotations that utilizes appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, cost, delivery, and serviceReviews, inputs, and modifies purchase lead-times for purchased shop supplies and/or commoditiesCreates and maintains purchase orders with suppliers and vendorsFollows cost reduction/containment policies and procedures for the benefit of the CompanyRuns shortage reports daily to ensure JIT delivery of vendor supplied material in support of sequential operation start datesReports any and all purchase expenditures and variances to managementQuickly develops a thorough understanding of the company’s MRP systemSupports the estimation process with pricing that meets customer specifications, contracted period, and customer terms and conditions in support of the estimation process and timelineAdheres to all workplace safety guidelines, policies, and laws determined by the company, state, and federal authorities, and ensures that personnel within the Materials department comply as wellPerforms other duties as assigned Required Attributes:Proven ability to manage time and meet deadlines within an environment of fast-paced periods of intense deadlines and fluctuating workloadHigh ethical standards in relations with personnel, suppliers, and customersTeam player with a can-do attitude Education, Skills, and Experience:Two years experience in purchasingExcellent communication and presentation skills necessary to converse with inter-departmental staff and outside suppliers/vendorsProficiency with Microsoft applications and MRP systems Physical Demands and Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of this job.
