We are looking for a Revenue Cycle Management Subject Matter Expert who is a medical billing industry thought leader, to further enable Kareo Practice Management and Medical Billing products and services to deliver solutions that simplify the revenue management cycle.

The Billing SME will be our foremost expert on medical billing regulations and regularly monitors the industry for updated code sets, emerging compliance rules, and notable payer policy changes to ensure Kareo’s product portfolio remains compliant.  The primary focus of this role is empowering the billing squads and go-to-market (GTM) teams with industry and product insights that allow them to design, build and launch solutions that resonate with customers and differentiate Kareo from its competition.

The SME Billing position will directly influence the revenue cycle product strategy and will contribute to optimizing the customer experience by providing guidance to the broader product organization. 

How you will contribute:

  • Billing industry recognition and credibility by participating in Kareo and third-party technology webinars, conferences, trade shows, and press events as an attendee, panelist, and speaker.
  • Advising leadership on emerging healthcare revenue management cycle technology and healthcare billing trends and identifying market opportunities and threats for the Kareo product portfolio.
  • Contributing to Product and UX’s primary market research activities, including competitive analysis, contextual inquiries, surveys, focus groups, usability and compliance studies to identify market problems, business challenges, and refine requirements.
  • Participating as an active member of the billing squads for product and design inputs, business rule confirmation, solution reviews, and testing coverage validation.
  • Interfacing with other product squads, and cross-functional teams as needed to deliver a cohesive customer experience.
  • Driving awareness and adoption of Kareo practice management solutions by partnering with Product and Marketing to draft and deliver compelling presentations, product demos, and prototype solutions.
  • Elevating medical billing expertise across the Kareo organization by advising the Training Team on “billing best practices” and short-cuts that will empower Kareo’s Customer Success, Product, and Engineering organization to deliver award winning products and services.
  • Participating in Kareo’s Compliance Counsel and maintain expert knowledge of CPT-4, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS Level II code sets, CMS billing regulations, and major payer billing policies.

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare management or related degree, advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years’ in-depth experience in active, complex professional healthcare billing.
  • AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) in good standing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions.
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum practices is a plus.
