Essential Functions and Primary Duties:

  • Provide oversight of core actuarial deliverables
  • Assist in the analysis and quantification of risks
  • Assist in determining the level of contributions required to finance pension, health care, and social insurance programs
  • Provide expertise in evaluating pension plan liabilities
  • Design creative ways to reduce the likelihood of undesirable events
  • Decrease the impact of undesirable events that do occur
  • Perform cost-benefit analysis of proposed activities
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED  
  • Eight or more years of pension actuarial experience
  • Possesses highly advanced and broad understanding of actuarial principles, practices, and procedures
  • Expert knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, and actuarial standards
  • Expert use of applicable technology
  • Proficient use of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and enterprise communication and travel solutions (Concur, Skype)
  • Experience performing work that requires initiative and leadership skills
  • Experience in coaching and teaching others 
  • Enrolled Actuary (EA)
  • Effectively represents position on issues to gain support and buy-in from others; works to achieve win-win outcomes that others can accept
  • Demonstrate a commitment to professional development by proactively seeking opportunities to develop new capabilities, skills and knowledge
  • Develop innovative approaches to address problems and drive continuous improvement in programs and processes
  • Accept full responsibility for self and contribution as a team member
  • Display a strong commitment to organizational success and inspires others to commit to goals
  • Ability to provide technical leadership to staff
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams
  • Ability to travel as necessary
