Respiratory Care Apprentice – Part-Time Nights

Schedule: Part time, 48 hours per pay period, 24 hours per week, 12 hour shifts, Nights, including every other 3rd weekend rotation Job Summary Under the supervision of a licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner, performs routine respiratory care procedures as defined by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA) and noninvasive cardiac related tests on patients for use in patient diagnosis and treatment.

Minimal Acceptable Job Qualifications Licensure: Obtain and maintain: Respiratory Care student permit granted by the IPLA.

Permit expires on the earliest of the following: The date the IPLA grants or denies a license to the permit holder; The permit holder ceases to be a student in good standing in a respiratory care program.

Graduation does not cause the permit to expire; Sixty (60) days after graduation from the respiratory care program.

BCLS within 90 days of hire Phlebotomy within 60 days of hire.

Experience: Clinical experience as part of an accredited respiratory care program.

Education: Actively participating in a respiratory care program accredited by the CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) or its equivalent.

Other: Demonstrates use of the English language both verbal and written.

Demonstrates basic knowledge of anatomy of the heart.

Requires mathematical skills necessary for the compilation of test results.

Requires a basic understanding of the related behaviors, needs and comfort appropriate to the age (including neonate, child, adolescent, aging adult) and diagnosis of patient served in order to support the provision of an individualized multidisciplinary plan of care.

Requires writing skills necessary to accurately and legibly record information related to patient medical history and testing process.

Demonstrates well developed interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with all internal and external customers, as needed.
