Abilities First is seeking full time Residential Coach (DSP’s) in Millbrook.

This position provides supervision in the daily activities and responsibilities of the residents, providing training and assistance as needed, and ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents.

Full Time Schedules Available: Friday
– Monday: 3pm-11pm (32hrs/wk) Sunday
– Thursday: 3pm-11pm (40hrs/wk) Sunday
– Thursday: 11pm-7am (40hrs/wk) Responsibilities include: Provide training and assistance to the residents in developing basic skills in appropriate social behaviors and communication, safety, housekeeping, personal care, health care, medication administration, money management, using public transportation, menu & meal preparation, grocery purchasing, and planning recreational activities.

Ensures the safety and well-being of the residents.

Assists the resident in achieving progress toward their individualized-based outcomes.

Maintains cleanliness of living spaces by assisting residents and completing task where residents cannot.

Prepares meals when necessary.

Successfully completes all required training programs, including a course in medication administration.

Responsible for lifting, transferring, and maneuvering adult residents as required.

Includes daily driving responsibilities to transport residents to activities and appointments as needed.

And More Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.

Possess verbal and written communication skills in English to effectively communicate with residents and ensure adequate regulatory documentation.

Have the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time Have the ability to push and pull adults in wheelchairs, lift, bend, squat, turn in the knees, pivot and grasp with both hands (in order to properly and safely perform the techniques taught in CPR/First Aid, behavior intervention techniques, and lifting and carrying techniques), with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Valid NYS driver’s license deemed acceptable by our insurance carrier required.
