Responsibilities

Family Practice Resident

Northridge Hospital Medical Center

Family Practice Resident:
Follows hospital policies and procedures, i. e. attendance, punctuality, dress code, etc. Protects confidentiality of patient, employee, department and medical center information and records. Completes HIPAA training. Follows all departmental policies and procedures as delineated in the appropriate residency program policy documents. Attends and actively participates in residency educational activities. Participates in residency and institutional committees, especially those that relate to patient care review activities. Completes all required rotations and experiences and achieves year-specific competencies. Documents educational experiences as required in the procedure documentation policy. Provides teaching to fellow residents and medical students participating in residency sponsored activities. Develops plan of care and delivers high quality patient care. Participates in effective and compassionate patient care under supervision, commensurate with his/her level of advancement and responsibility. Provides patient care to patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings under the direction and supervision of training program faculty. Provides night coverage as dictated by call schedule in addition to clinical and teaching responsibilities during the work day. Maintains all appropriate charts and records for patients in accordance with sound medical practice and all governing laws, rules and regulations. Never abandons patients in need of care, in either inpatient or outpatient settings.


Qualifications

Requirements:

Education:
Doctorate in Medicine or Osteopathy

Specialized Training/Certifications:

  • Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life support, Basic Life support, Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support for year one and two residents is required.
  • Year one residents must have completed aforementioned certifications by July 1st
  • Fire Safety Card required (within 90 days of hire date.)
