Rendezvous, Proximity Operations, and Docking (RPOD) Lead Engineer Space Destinations

As part of a hardworking team of diverse spacecraft development engineers, you will define the Rendezvous, Proximity Operations, and Docking (RPOD) operations concepts, identify functional and performance requirements on each of the flight elements, lead integrated Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) analysis, and plan the verification and validation campaign that will ensure safe and reliable RPOD operations for Orbital Reef core modules. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required Responsibilities: Perform analysis and studies to determine trajectories, rendezvous points, safety gates and corridors, and requirements for performing RPOD operations Develop RPOD concept of operations for Orbital Reef core modules Decompose RPOD functional and performance requirements between GN&C, mechanical systems, communication systems, docking targets, and mission systems Develop and maintain data interface, optical interface, and/or mechanical interface between the elements during the RPOD process Define and maintain element level states and modes in nominal and off-nominal conditions during the RPOD phase Determine and lead required RPOD V&V activities, including flight demonstrations Qualifications: B.S. in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, physics or related technical subject area Proven technical depth in one of the following areas: guidance, navigation, control, simulation, or flight software 7 years of demonstrated experience with in-space RPOD systems and mission operations Experience planning and executing RPOD integrated tests in high-fidelity test environments Experience in developing RPO Dconcept of operations, and requirements definition and analysis Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to execute in a dynamic, fast-paced, and driven work environment Applicant must be a United States citizen or permanent resident alien (current Green Card holder) Desired: M.S. or PhD in the subject disciplines 10 years relevant experience with at least 4 years spent leading a complex multi-disciplinary team Strong fundamental knowledge in astrodynamics and relative motion of space objects Familiarity with the International Rendezvous System Interoperability Standards (IRSIS) Experience developing and analyzing RPOD algorithms and approaches Knowledge of International Space Station RPOD architecture, mission design, and operational procedures The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
