Responsibilities:
Performs legal, business, and competitive intelligence research for attorneys, paralegals and support staff, using a variety of electronic and print resources
This can include various types of quick or complex research including case, docket, and filings retrievals, legislative histories, news, public records, and company research
Assists with collection development by evaluating new digital & print resources and assessing attorney information needs and usage patterns
Supports the Firm’s use of online databases by assisting in training, coordinating training sessions through vendor webinars, and trouble-shooting technical issues
Create current awareness alerts & newsletters for ongoing monitoring of clients, legal news, industries, legislation and subject specialties
Shares responsibilities for maintaining and updating the Library Intranet pages
Stays current with new and developing trends in research, technology and competitive intelligence
Participates in projects that increase the value of the firm’s research and information services to the Firm
Uses workflow software to track and process research requests
Performs other special projects or duties as assigned
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS/MLIS) preferred
Minimum 2 years professional experience in a law firm
General knowledge of reference sources in legal and business areas
Technological competency with a variety of databases (Lexis, Bloomberg, Hein Online, CCH Cheetah, etc.) and proven ability to manage digital resources
Ability to think critically, solve complex problems and use discretion in handling confidential matters
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking skills to facilitate presentations
