Responsibilities:
- Performs legal, business, and competitive intelligence research for attorneys, paralegals and support staff, using a variety of electronic and print resources
- This can include various types of quick or complex research including case, docket, and filings retrievals, legislative histories, news, public records, and company research
- Assists with collection development by evaluating new digital & print resources and assessing attorney information needs and usage patterns
- Supports the Firm’s use of online databases by assisting in training, coordinating training sessions through vendor webinars, and trouble-shooting technical issues
- Create current awareness alerts & newsletters for ongoing monitoring of clients, legal news, industries, legislation and subject specialties
- Shares responsibilities for maintaining and updating the Library Intranet pages
- Stays current with new and developing trends in research, technology and competitive intelligence
- Participates in projects that increase the value of the firm’s research and information services to the Firm
- Uses workflow software to track and process research requests
- Performs other special projects or duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS/MLIS) preferred
- Minimum 2 years professional experience in a law firm
- General knowledge of reference sources in legal and business areas
- Technological competency with a variety of databases (Lexis, Bloomberg, Hein Online, CCH Cheetah, etc.) and proven ability to manage digital resources
- Ability to think critically, solve complex problems and use discretion in handling confidential matters
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking skills to facilitate presentations
